    I was in the Carrboro store using some blinkies I had found at Food Lion which were DND5. The cashier looked at the DND, then turned it over and saw the bar code, and said "Since they start with a 5, they will double even though they say they won't", which was pleasing enough...and then she said, "I think I learned that from you a while ago"! At least some people are willing to learn

    Yeah, I know the coupon would have scanned and tripled had she just tried it. And the cashier also knew it. That is why she pulled it out before she even tried to scan it and instead had a manager come over and enter it manually as a $.50 generic manufacturer coupon to make sure it didn't triple. If she had scanned it, it would have tripled and then there would likely have been no way to charge me back the $1.

    I have used hundreds of DND5 coupons at this store previously and never had a single issue. I knew this was unusual behavior on this cashiers part, but wasn't going to argue or make a scene over $1. The manager that came over even seemed a bit peeved that she had to do the override.

    I guess it is one of two situations.
    1) My HT has decided they are going to start enforcing DND wording on coupons, though that isn't even directly addressed in their coupon policy, and even if it means manually checking every coupon and having to manually enter them instead of using the scanners.
    2) It was an isolated incident by an overzealous cashier, probably particularly tired of a week of triples.

    I believe (and truly hope) it was just #2 and will simply avoid that cashier on all future trips. I like my Lowe's Grocery much better anyway, and pretty much only shop HT for triples.

    My HT always pulls the DND 5's out and manually enters them. I just don't use them at HT and save them for Bi-Lo or LF. I'll sure be glad when they get the new LF built here so I don't have to drive around town to get there.

    OP... sorry to hear about your bad experience. I hope you get everything sorted out with the CS.

    I have had cashiers skipping a coupon or two so now, I hand the coupons to them by batches. I give the identical ones together and tell them how many coupons, ie. I bought 9 Dole Fruit Crisp (3 of each variety) and gave the cashier 9 Dole coupons at once and told him "I have 9 of these" and counted the beeps. Then I handed him 3 Mentos coupons and told him "3 of these" so on and so forth. That way, no one gets confused and all coupons will be scanned, and less OOP and headaches!

    There was this one white shirt that did a year at my store I that would miss coupons. What made me angry is he would first scan my items so quickly that THROW them down to the bagging area because he was in such a hurry (even if there was no one behind me) then he would scan through my coupons so quick, it was like it was a race to do his personal best for amount of items scanned in least amount of time! He missed 3 of my coupons and I made him come up to CS and give me the money back. I hated going to his lane but sometimes he was the only one working.
