    QUESTION BOGO help PLEASE

Okay so I was at my usual HT in Greensboro, NC yesterday. I have bought lots of BOGO items before and often I have only bought 1 item from the "BOGO pair." Normally, it simply rings up at half price, but yesterday the cashier said she would let it slide that i was only buying one of the lysol toilet bowl cleaners. My coupon was for 1 item. But later when she was scanning the lysol wipes I had only picked up 1 of the BOGO pair and she said I WOULD HAVE to buy the second item to get the BOGO price. I was very perturbed b/c one was only $.60, but having to buy both it was over $1.00 each.

The cashier said they were changing the registers so that you would have to buy both items to get the BOGO discount. I checked the online coupon policy and it didn't say anything about that, except I could only use 1 Qn per BOGO pair. Do I have a leg to stand on here? Should I just keep quiet?
My store always doubles Qn's DND's even though many other local stores haven't been. Even still doubling the internet Qn's. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

PS I bought several several of the frosted mini-wheats and only bought 3 b/c I only had to buy three for the milk Catalina. No one said anything about only buying 1 pair and then 1/2 a BOGO pair!

Why fight it? Tell her "fine I still only want one." They can not FORCE You to buy the second. You and I know it will be half price -why argue with someone over it? IF it is full price then walk up to CS and say you want to return it. Tell them you used a coupon and that you are fine with the money you paid AND Your coupon back.

I always just buy one and use one coupon. They have never said anything to me about having to buy two on BOGO items.
I had sanity once upon a time I promise . It was just so long agoooo that I can't remember it.

I wouldn't worry about it. There are a few painful cashiers around. I'd either just say "fine, I want one" or let it go and get it later. There is no rule saying you have to buy both. I hope they don't change it. I doubt it, since they had it before that you had to buy both, but the seniors were unhappy about it, from what I hear.

A few years ago the HT in my area required that you buy both to get the BOGO price but at that time the register rang up the first item as FULL price and the second item as FREE. Now each item will ring at 50% off, even though it is advertised as BOGO. If the item is featured in the ad you may be able to show the cashier the ad. The ad often states in the fine print that each item will ring at half-price. If it will ring at half price then obviously you are allowed to buy one and still get the sale price.

I'm lucky that HT doesn't pay any attention to BOGO items, they only make sure you follow the 3 coupon rule and the total of 20 that will triple/double.

I would do exactly as Ummm said - but I'd also go to customer service when I'm done and ask to speak to the manager on duty. I'd tell them that the cashier seems to misunderstand how BOGO sales ring up, and probably needs some clarification so other customers don't get wrong information.

Yikes, I'm in Greensboro. Wonder what store this was?

I almost always go to Friendly Center and Lawndale, and the only problem I've ever had wasn't even with a doubler - they tried to tell me they could only accept 3 of the $2 any frozen pizza coupons Coors had out around the Super Bowl. I said "you can only *double* three like coupons" but she didn't budge. I didn't have time to argue so I just had her take it off.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was the same cashier who told you that you had to get 2 items to get the BOGO. I'm not sure I believe her about changing the registers, either - I'm sure they move a lot more stuff out the door by selling things half price (where you could use a coupon on each, though you might have to do separate transactions) than in full-price/free pairs you could only use one coupon for.

Then again, that would cause them to double fewer coupons. The savings from that might offset the lower revenues. I dunno.

I went to my HT tonight (Kville) and even asked about the BOGO on the Hellmens Mayo and they said you could buy just one and use a coupon but you could not "buy" both and use two coupons. I used one coupon and bought one mayo. I'll go back to tomorrow and get more, as long as they restock.

Thanks for all the info. I went last night and had NO problems. I bought Hellman's Mayo, more cereal-3 boxes and country crock stick margarine all without any problems. Maybe you guys were right that she doesn't understand the deal. I am not going to say anything b/c the other supervisor who normally checks me out was "backing" her up. Anyway the supervisor has never mentioned it b/4 so maybe she didn't understand what the cashier was telling me.

Anyway off I go tonight. I am ready for this triple week to be done and I hope next week is a bad sale. I am tired of shopping!!!

    Thanks
