HOT Real men don't use coupons

ARGH!

I got in line. Noone was behind me, but the store was crowded yesterday.

Two men got in line behind me as I started to ring up. They got SO irritated with my couponing. Two items beeped so the manager had to come over, the cashier got my phone number wrong and DH had taken my VIC card so I had to use my phone number....

All to say it took a little time.....the guy behind me was so irritated. He kept pushing his cart more forward and made sure to put his case of beer down loudly next to the cashier who was still ringing up my stuff.

I kept thinking, "You SAW me in line with my coupons and my cart full of stuff.....what did you THINK would happen?"

Thanks for letting me vent. Just irritated.

Dawn

Sorry :( There are a lot of idiots out there. You have to learn to either smile and ignore it or stand up for yourself and tell em to buzz off.
Some days both! LOL

Sorry they were so snarky with you! Here's the flip side of men using coupons - I sent my husband to HT the other day with a list of things to get for SD and the qs...when it was time to check out, a cashier who was about to close his register called my husband over to his lane. He was thinking - guy alone, not too many things in the cart - should be quick, right? Ha! he didn't know that real men DO use coupons, and 20 coupons later, he was looking like he wished he had picked someone else to be his last customer of the day!

I hate that when that happens. If they only had a couple of items they should be directed to u-scan by the cashier. I just smile at them. The lady that was in front of me the other day spent $276.97 on groceries so I don't care how long it takes for me to check-out because I'm saving money. And I have seen alot of men using coupons and they were by themselves.

Holy frickin moly.

I'm sure it took much longer for her to be rung up and bagged, than it did for you with your max of 20 coupons, and yet I bet no one gave her any crap.

And the idea that "real men" don't use coupons is garbage. I read KCL's blog, and there was a comment on there the other day from a guy who is in high school. He took up couponing to help his single mom save money. I think he's going to grow up to be a better man than some pushy, beer-swilling idiot.

Sorry that happened to you. It's happened to all of us at one time or another.

But...I have to tell this story, in support of the couponing men in this world! Yesterday, I stopped into Kroger to pick up a few things before the sales ended and/or my coupons expired. And it was BUSY, since it was a Saturday afternoon. A man was in front of me, getting a cart full of groceries. He turned to me and said, "This might take a minute. I use coupons!" I immediately picked up my coupon box from the seat of the cart to show him...and we both smiled!! Then, he said, "Oh...and I do this on my own. My wife won't touch the things!" Gotta love him!

Its not just men, I've had women be just as rude if not worse.

My dh uses coupons, and will grab the coupons and ads on Sunday before I get a chance. He's the one that gets them from the coffee shop when we stop.

It was so funny when we were at his older brothers house once. I had taught my niece how to use coupons and her husband was thanking me, then him and dh got into a coupon discussion. Dh's older brother came in and heard their conversation...(he doesn't "get" the concept) you should have seen the look on his face with the 2 guys talking coupons. ROFL.

That has happened to me before. I nicely, with a smile on my face, turn to the person and say "I am sorry this is taking so long with the coupons, but if you're in such a hurry you are welcome for pay for my groceries and I'll be on my way." Needless to say they always resonpd "no problem" then gasp when they see my final total. Iget the last laugh.

Whew I would have been hot about that, especially the one pushing his cart ever closer and doubt I could have demonstrated the polite restraint you did! What an idiot!! Exactly what did he think that was going to accomplish??

You did absolutely nothing wrong and should have told the jerks exactly what you thought!!!

A few times when I had a lot of coupons I was going to use at Walmart I didn't even go to the store til 10 PM or so, just to avoid making people have to wait in line and it turned out they had so few checkers at those times it didn't matter. There was still a line behind me. I just gave a wan smile and said "sorry." We have just as much right to check out as anyone else!! Hmph!
