QUESTION Problem using RRs at HT

So yesterday my cashier and the GM refused to take my Register Rewards from Walgreens. I have always used them there (occasionally) and never had any trouble.

Anybody else?

I can't use RR at my HT - they say they are not in 'direct competition' with them. We have 2 Walgreens within 4 miles of HT but they won't accept them. The white shirt got the policy out once and read to me that they will take direct competitors coupons but she said they were not a direct competitor. :-(

I used to be able to use them at all of my HT stores (>5 in my area). Then a few months ago one of them said they were told not to accept them any more, that they do not get reimbursed from the mfr. for them.
I'm pretty sure several other stores would still take them, but I just don't try anymore.

They admitted that Walgreens was their direct competition; they said they only take competitor Qs that are mailed out or in the circular.

My HT used to take them but shot me down last time I went. Oh well. It was good while it lasted!

Well then they are just abiding by the posted policy. I'm not sure if this wording changed recently, or if it has always been specific to accepting only circular/direct mail Qs.

Competitor’s Coupons
  • We gladly accept local competitors’ circular or direct-mail coupons for MONEY OFF THE TOTAL ORDER; we do not take competitor’s coupons for money off specific items.
  • We do not accept any internet coupons from other retailers.

Hmmm...my store took some just a couple of days ago. They scanned for their face value and no one had to over ride anything. I even double checked with the "white shirt" up front before using them.

I wonder if it is because the store just opened a couple of months ago. Well, I guess I will just be appreciative of the ones I was able to use.
