According to my friend who works at HT, the Department Managers, Store Director, Store & Co Managers, Front End Managers, etc. (along with the pricing people--hence Scan Coordinators) meets the Friday before the next week's sale. It is announced what the sales are, specials, etc. in their store meeting. This is what she told me recently.

The ad is usually at the store a week ahead of time. If I can, I will try to confirm the info.

Without going into a long explanation of UPC family codes, etc - LOL - it just isn't coded that way.

It doesn't say "do not double" though - so your store should manually double it for you - last SD I bought Jello with mine and they would manually double it up to the price of 3 boxes ($1.71 total). They had no problem and had even made almost all of the cashiers aware of the situation by day two of SDs - but then again, my store is awesome!
