QUESTION Rebate/Formula Checks at HT

I was wondering if anyone else has experience with this (Mods, please feel free to move if it should be part of a thread ).

I had two BOGO Enfamil catalinas so I went to HT on Tuesday to use one. I also had a $10/$40 HT coupon to use. Along with the catalina, I had two $5 formula checks to use, so since the $10/$40 coupon states ($40 must be met after all other coupons applied) I bought an extra $10 of stuff. My cashier yesterday actually scanned my coupon BEFORE my formula checks, and said that rebate checks like the Enfamil don't count as coupons so you can use them after the $10/$40 coupons since they are just like cash.

So, I went yesterday to use the 2nd cat, but then the cashier puts in my rebate checks and says I can't use the $10/$40 (I get one every sales week) coupon b/c my total was $32 after the rebate checks. So I told her that yesterday the other cashier said the rebate checks were deposited as cash and weren't considered a coupon/discount. She still said she wouldn't let me use the coupon, so I said "Fine, I'll just take it to use at Giant". The cashier said "But it's a HT coupon" and I said "Yes, but Giant takes competitor coupons".

So, she went to talk to the manager and the manager said let me use it, so she scanned it and my oop was $22 for 2 cans of formula, 40lb of cat litter, 8 jars of pasta sauce and 2 Steamfresh.

Anyway, my question is: Has anyone else used rebate or formula checks at HT and had issues with using them with the $/$$ coupons?

I know this is a YMMV situation b/c some people give the $/$$ first before anything else, but my coupons lately have said $40 must be met after other discounts, so I'm specifically asking about rebate checks and whether they count as coupons or cash.

Formula checks are a form of payment not a discount or coupon. I would hand over my coupons, then the $10/$40 and then after they hit total hand over my cash and formula check.

Totally don't know for sure because I don't shop HT, too far away, but based on how the formula checks are entered, I figured they were a "form of payment" not a coupon. They aren't entered until after the transaction is totalled so I always thought they were like $$ and not coupons. I am interested in what others think also because maybe I am wrong.

If formula checks were coupons then you couldn't use them with coupons because that would be 2 coupons on 1 item....just thinking out loud here. Sort of reiterates them not being coupons but payment.

I'm still new to the formula checks. Are they similar to coupons...one per item? Ex: two cans of formula, you use two formula checks.

Yes I believe most of them have some sort of wording like that on them. Read the fine print on them.
