Harris Teeter ~ Question: Raincheck Limit?

Maybe you should call or email HT (I prefer to email myself) and tell them what you were told. I don't think that is right that they can do that.

As far as going to another store to get more RC that is not always an option for others that don't live around charlotte where there is a HT on every street corner. I know in the smaller towns (Lincolnton, Cherryville and Shelby) they only have one store per town...and the next closest one is 20+miles away ...that is a long way to go for rainchecks. I think that some of us in the Charlotte Market forget or don't realize that outside of here HT isn't always the Leader in Grocery stores.

Rarely do I stockpile rainchecks BUT when a deal is really good and the store is constantly out of that item then I have no problem getting several rainchecks.

I have also done it at BiLo when they had Breyers Ice Cream for $1.88 each limit 2....and guess what I just ordered a few days ago and who will be getting 18 $.38 ice cream as soon as my Q get here with my 4 rainchecks for 2 and my 1 raincheck for 10...I see nothing wrong with that.

i also had to get RC for the nine lives cat food. it is a BOGO item tho and i was told that there is a limit of 3 DEALS per RC (i was lucky enough to to 2 RCs tho, different days, different CSR). then again most everything at HT is YMMV......lol

Yeah, my rain check was for 3 deals, to. He put 6 bags on the RC.

I did manage to drag myself out of bed early enough yesterday morning and again this morning, so so far I have managed to get 18 bags of 9 Lives. I'm going to try and get one more set of 6 and I'm going to stop at another HT after work and get another RC and then I'll be done.

I've been shopping at Harris Teeter for about three years now. Never once have I been limited on the number of rainchecks I get on a single item in a week until today. I asked for rainchecks on several items for which I got rainchecks yesterday. Done it many times before. Today I am told they can't give it to me since I got them yesterday.

Has anyone ever written the company to ask about this practice?

Here's a relevant statement from their raincheck policy:

"We reserve the right to limit raincheck quantities based on product availability and advertised limits. "

What does "based on product availability" mean?

Here's how I feel about rainchecks. It's not the customer's fault they were out of stock, and the raincheck should in effect give me the same treatment I would have gotten had they had the stock. If they had the stock, would you have been told, "You bought that earlier in the week. You can't buy it today." Not unless it was an E-VIC. But, per their policy, I guess they do have the right to do that. When I really have an issue with it, I just politely ask to speak to a manager, and explain that if it had been in stock, I would have been allowed to do this. Why can't I because you don't have stock? The manager could still say no, but I've never had them say no.

If you can buy the raincheck item each time you visit, then how can they justify one raincheck per sale?

I had a hard time finding HB apple juice and the BOGO lenders bagels this last week, so every visit I got a RC with a limit of 10 for each one with no hassles - many times written by the same CS/Mgr. I guess one more reason to love my local HT!

HT rain check rule....Limit of three per rain check...that means...
If it is a BOGO thats 3 deals or 6 total items
if it is a 2/$5.00, then 6 total items
Most buy 2 get 3 free have 10 as a limit, so ten total will apply
