Great deal on Boston Butt at .88 too!

Can you freeze string cheese? I have some but I may pick up more at .33 each. I freeze shredded cheese and it is fine but not I always cook with it we don't snack on it.

Can you give me some details on freezing shredded cheese? I have all the 2% shredded we made money on back in early August with expirations coming up and there is no way I am going to use it all. When you pull it out of the freezer, do you defrost it first? how? Any insight would be most helpful...thanks

I always freeze mine. I defrost it in the fridge if I get it out in the morning or night before I am going to use it. If I forget to do that I will defrost in microwave or for about 1 hour on the counter. It defrosts very quickly and no noticeable taste or texture difference. HTH.

Jen - thanks for the match-ups and links! Off to rep you.

If I'm using my shredded cheese to make pizza or putting it on top of something where it'll be melting I'll just use it straight from the freezer. Haven't noticed any difference b/w frozen and non frozen this way.

    Thx Jen!
I have always frozen cheese. Shredded is fine. Blocks are ok too for shredding and cooking, I find that Mozarella does not "taste" the same to eat "fresh" w/ tomatoes etc.
