QUESTION Successful freezing of dairy products?

I've found contradictory answers on other sites I've researched this on, so I thought I'd ask the people I trust most - my HCW coupon crazies! Can you freeze blocks of Velveeta and cream cheese? These are pretty darn cheap this week with coupons so I'd love to stock up if they freeze well. I'd probably eventually use them in dips or sauces - not just cutting to eat by itself if that makes a difference. While we're on the subject, anyone know if freezing yogurt kills the live cultures? I know I see ads about freezing Yoplait Whips, but just wondered if any of the benefits of yogurt were destroyed by doing it. Any thoughts are appreciated!

Velvetta: Yes but cut it up into pieces

Cream Cheese: Yes but don't try to make cheese cake out of it, it wont' get creamy enough.

Yogurt: The live cultures are fine after they've been frozen, not so good once they've been sitting at room temp....

Velveeta is already shelf-stable, does not need to be refrigerated until the package is open. So, unless you are talking about a half package, I would not worry about it.

I have been freezing cream cheese for a long time. I never have any problems with it-I do NOT make cheesecake.

Velveeta.....yuck!

I freeze Cool Whip and cream cheese for my "no bake cheesecakes" and they turn out really good. Cream cheese for dips should work just fine after freezing.

We freeze cream cheese and use it for cake cookies and have no problems (and dh has worked in restaurants and gone to cooking school). :)
