FYI Harris Teeter: Interesting Info. on Sales and General Trivia

You all may know this but I wanted to share with you for those that don't. I spoke to my manager at HT a while back about coupon useage and sales in general at Harris Teeter.

One day I was doing my shopping and I noticed that there were several items on sale that were not listed in the ad. So of course, I went to customer service to talk to manager and just get an idea about how their sales run.

Did you know that at any given time, there are over 4,500 items on sale in the store - of course they could not possibly put all this in an ad. I usually only go in the store with my list and the coupons for my list and that is it -so I am in and out. If I see something that is really a good deal, I go home and search out those coupons for a visit the next day or so.
Unreal deals go on for about 30 days.

Did you know that Harris Teeter does not get reimbursed by the mfg at 8 ct per coupon but instead it is down by poundage. Now I am not sure I fully understand this but they bundle all the coupons up and they get their money back by weight of the bundle. Would love to know more about this if anyone can add to it.

I know most grocery stores use a third party to sort the Q's and then invoice the MFG to pay the grocer or send bill to grocer to bill the mfg.

We also talked about pricing and about how our "my" HT always seemed to be dead on with the price on products - whoever they use to program the prices each week seems to do an extremely good job as very seldom have I had a discrepancy. I do always check to make sure my e-vic deals ring up correctly. One day I had one issue so I called CS at the 800 # and she said I could go back to the CS desk at HT and they would handle. I told her that I really did not want to make that extra trip back and she credited by vic card $3.00 which came off my next purchase. They don't just do this randomly. I gave her the ticket # off my receipt - They have a way of looking at your receipt on-line to verify you are legit and that the error occurred.

I love Target but I always check my receipt because many times the pricing is incorrect on what is on the shelf sales tag verses what rings up on your receipt. One shopping day I had 3 incorrect items ring up and on another day there were two with a discrepancy - it never seems to fail that there is always a discrepancy -- so always check your receipt regardless of where you shop. Sometimes it is in your favor and sometimes it is not.

I imagine it is easier to process by poundage than by count.
I am sure that they know 1 pound of coupons = $100 bucks in handling fees, or whatever the rate is.

When I worked at a kiddie park where they got prizes for tickets, we weighed the tickets and told them how many they had.

I don't know this for sure, but I heard from a very good source that Ht and FoodLion are both owned by the same company. HT is more for the upper crust, elite and FoodLion for the every day shopper. I do believe HT is for the elite with their wine sales, gourmet and fresh deli foods, including sushi, can you imagine FL selling sushi??

I don't think so - maybe your source was thinking of Bloom instead of HT. Bloom and FL are owned by the same company.
