question about "do not double" coupons

I have a few coupons that read "do not double." I have seen some people post on here that they will usually double anyway. Does that mean that when they scan they double if the cashier doesn't notice, or that Harris Teeter doubles them anyway? I have several, and I just want to understand their policy before I go. I am new to couponing . Thanks for your help!

Welcome to HCW. You have come to the right place. I don't have a Harris Teeter but usually every store does it the same way I believe. If a coupon starts with a 5 then it automatically doubles. If it starts with a 9 it doesn't double. Check the barcode. I

While this is true most times...i have had cashier have to key in some Qs in past, and if they said do not double on them- the cashier would not double them. guess its YMMV

if the barcode starts with a 9 but the actual coupon does not say DO NOT DOUBLE, do they have to double it. How would the average person know that a 9 means do not double?

Do not try to use DND'S at the Hickory NC (Belle Store). They will do NOT double these! I have I hard time understanding this considering everyone I have talked to on this thread get this to go through at any other store with out a problem. Besides they eat the difference anyway so why not. Anyone have any ideas I'm tried of driving 30 minutes away so I can double or triple these coupons.

My DND9 coupons did not double at my HT last night--so much for super doubles :-(
