QUESTION Card cutting off

This is not about multiple trips!!!!

My card has cut off on 3 different days at different times in my order.

The first day the computer didn't double the mento's q's and I thought that was just coupon specific problem.

The next day the doubling cut off after 12 coupons.

And today it stopped doubling after 6 coupons.

They called corporate each time to verify I had not been to another store and then doubled my q's correctly. The funny thing is today there was a friend with me and she had not shopped at HT in months and her card cut off after 3 coupons. This is happening in Winston-Salem. The first two days were at a store on Country Club Road but today it happened at a store on Robinhood Road.

Is anyone else having an issue with this? At first I thought, well they know I like to cherry-pick and they are trying to give certain shoppers a hard time. Yet then when my friend who hardly ever shops cut off, my suspicions were raised.

Can someone else who may be having issues here or may know about something new going on with the computers please answer why this is happening when I am shopping according to policy?

Thanks,

It happened to me today and it's the first time I've shopped since Friday. I used 15 coupons in groups of 3 and also bought some non coupon items. The .75 coupons for Edge and the .50 Shamrock milk only scanned at face value, didn't even double. I thought the total was high but didn't check until I got home because I had bought quite a few non coupon items.

It happened to me at the Country Club Rd. store on Thursday of last week. I had made a trip that morning but had only used 12 coupons. I was trying to use 2 coupons at CC - making a total of 14, well below the 20 coupon limit. I was honest with the cashier and CSR about my first trip. The CSR was really snotty and asked "well, do you have your receipt to show how many coupons you used?" I replied that I did not have my receipt, why would I carry that around? I also tried to point out that if I had wanted to be dishonest I would've simply said "no, this is my first trip" but they flat refused to triple my coupons so I had them void the order and I left.

Goodness. Sounds like some testing going on... how aggravating, considering none of you were outside of their rules.

This may be a test they are doing. I was told by a CS rep at my local store that starting Wed. their systems will lock out the cards once you have doubled/tripled 20 coupons. I need to clarify that statement. You will still be able to use as many coupons as you want but you will only be allowed 20 coupons to double/triple. There have been occasions that I have miscounted and used more that 20 coupons and the system would let it go but from here on out it will only allow 20 total. If you have 100 items you will be able to use 100 coupons but as stated before only 20 will double/triple. I personally do not jump from store to store because I LOVE my Harris Teeter people but they are having issues with people going from one store to another maxing out their coupons at each store. I guess this is more focused on those cities that have more than one Harris Teeter. So what this means is if you have 20 coupons that you want to double/triple then you should give them to your cashier first and then your $1 and above coupons last. This will ensure your first 20 coupons will double/triple. This system will be based on home addresses linked to your VIC cards. Keep your eyes out for new coupon policies!

I have no problem with them locking my card AFTER I have tripled 20 coupons but I had NOT - I had tripled 12, then wanted to triple 2 more because the first store I went to was sold out of an item I had coupons for. The way I understand the other posts in this thread, no one was exceeding the 20 coupon limit or trying to get around the limit by going to other stores. Again, I have absolutely no problem with them putting some sort of block to keep people from abusing the system. But no one here was doing that, our cards are being blocked before the 20 coupon limit! The policy has been 20 coupons doubled/tripled for as long as I can remember, that is not new.

I agree with you PHmom. I only had 15 coupons and they only tripled 9 of them. If they won't double/triple my 20 coupons I will not be shopping at HT anymore. I'm not going to cs every time I shop to get my coupons multiplied.

Interesting...I have not shopped since Friday. I was planning on doing a shop tomorrow and I will be on the look out for this.

Did you by any chance use any other coupons? Like $1.00 off or higher? The reason I ask is my U Scan cashier did tell me that she thought they were doing some reprogramming and she had noticed the system was counting ALL coupons toward the 20 - including the ones that should not double/triple. She told me to give her the ones to triple first and then the higher value coupons. She didn't say it was going to be the new rule or anything, just that they were messing around with the computers and she wanted to make sure I got my tripled ones in. I really didn't think anything about it at the time because I did have 20 to triple and then some other coupons - just in case I did give her the lower value ones first. Anyway, if its counting them all we wouldn't be able to use any other coupons until we were finished with our tripling for the day. I hope they fix this!

Good suggestion! That would make sense, if they set it to 20 total - tripled or not but in my case, I only used 1 other coupon, one of the $3.50 Purina dog food IPs so that still only makes my total 13. I really hope they figure out how to stop people from abusing the system but at the same time not make it impossible for me to try another store if one is sold out of something and still use my 20 total coupons.
