Harris Teeter ~ Vent: Heads up on Synder's and $2 off beef..rant

I wanted to let you know what I had to deal with today. I bought 2 synder's multigrain tortillos and 1 pretzel. Then I got hamburger meat to use with the synders. Well, the $2 beef Q came off and then 1 pretzel Q. The other 2 Q's beeped. I was told that the beef Q counted for 2 synder Q's and so I could only use 1 more Q for synder's. I was expalining to them that the $2 was for the beef and not the chips. I asked had the policy changed b/c I had done this last week with no problems and they said that yes it had. They redid their Q policy and system. I asked for them to remove the beef and 2 chips and void the $2 Q. They said that they couldn't do this. I was like so you can't void an item either anymore. They said well we can but the Q won't void off and I was like it has before. I only did this deal b/c of the Q's. I haven't a problem before with this. Ok so they end up taking the items off then the c/s lady was explaining that if she gives me the $2 Q back then I have to give her $2 back. I was like you will have to do it credit b/c I don't have any cash and I was like I don't want the Q back anyway. She gave me a dirty look and said well we will just call it even.
I was so aggravated and what made it worse was the young cashier was totally rude and ugly and mumbling to the other customers about it was only a couple dollars difference. Those chips are also 3.69 apiece so more than a couple dollars. How was I suppossed to know that they changed their policy from last week. UGH!!!
I always try to follow all policies especially when it comes to Q's.

Sorry you had problems. I'm sure cs and the cashier made up their own policy because I really doubt they reprogrammed their registers in a week.... I have not done this deal ever but I assume the $2 beef is coded for the chips, so when you went to use the qs for the chips, the computer read it as already being redeemed. I would argue (nicely) you are abiding by the coupon wording so it doesn't matter if it beeps they should have pushed it through.

I've seen many a customer service rep void a coupon or take the coupon off. It certainly can be done. Sorry you had a bad experience.

Ugh that is awful. Yeah, the problem is the coupon itself - it is actually coded to attach to the chips, since they can't code a coupon to just look for beef in your order. Last triples, I got 2 Grande chips and my 1 beef, used my 2 tripling Grande coupons, and of course the $2 Q for the beef beeped. I explained to the cashier and manager that came over that yes, I had used coupons for the chips, but that the coupon was for the beef wyb the chips. They just put the coupon in manually. Some places don't like to do anything manually if it beeps, though, even if you are technically right. You can't really stand there and explain to them that the coupon SAYS beef but is CODED for the chips, b/c they will look at you like you're crazy and may become suspicious of why you know so much...

Today I wasn't on my normal game and had my coupons in the wrong order, when she went to scan the IPs they wouldn't work. She had no problem voiding the $.50Q and then scanning the $.75 IP then the $.50 Q...it worked fine and actually now allows me to use the coupon on 2 other items...So they don't know what they are talking about...

Also I was told the coupons don't get balanced with their drawer anyway, so them saying they can't give you back your $2 Q is odd-unless you had already paid which as I reread what you typed, I am not sure if you did or not-however again if the coupons aren't balanced to the register to me that just doesn't make sense.

I had a problem with the kraft dressing coupon. I bought one and tried to use the $1.50 coupon. The coupon beeped and the front end girl said you have to buy two since the coupon value exceeds the price of the dressing.:sad: I never had this problem before I will not be buying anymore. I'm not going to pay full price for dressing when I get free all the time.

I never had a problem when using the $2 off beef when I bought the Grande chips a month ago but I know others were. And just yesterday they voided a coupon off for me so they were telling you a lie.

For the Kraft...Since when can't they adjust a coupon down? Is this some new thing? I had them do it for a bunch of coupons (Ob Tampons on clearance for $1.36 and my Q was $1.50-I got 20 in one transaction). I get that it says they won't give money back which seems right, but since when can't they adjust it down or are they just being lazy?

Though the rule states...
We accept coupons for items only of equal or more value; we do not give cash back.

So I wonder if that means they won't adjust a coupon down anymore...

omgosh, the last time i used those Q's....i wanted to beat the cashier. even after another person there told her to take the coupons, she argued....then lectured me on fraud....WTF???
