substitutions??

has anyone ever asked for substitutions?? i have a RC for the Shout spray that was b1g1 almost 2 months ago (was b1g1 and had .55/1 Q, making it very inexpensive). our store ran out and has never restocked since then. they assure me that the RC is good forever, but the problem is that the coupons are not! the 1st bunch i had have since expired. luckily, new ones came out but i don't want to chance them expiring on me again.

so the question is, have you asked for a substitution? did they do it? did they still take your Q's on it? did they say no? i'd just like to have an idea of what may be said when i ask. TIA!!!!

I've had stores offer me substitutions before. Back when they had the Kelloggs Mini Wheats B1G1, my store ran out so I asked for a raincheck. They told me I could choose ANY other cereal and get the B1G1 price as a substitution. I chose another Kelloggs cereal so that I could still use my Kelloggs $1 coupon.

They can only let you use the coupon if you purchase the correct product. So if I had chosen a GM cereal to subsitute, I would not have been able to use my Kelloggs coupon. If you substitute Spray and Wash for the Shout, they will not be able to take your Shout coupon. I'm not entirely sure about getting a substitution on a raincheck item, though. I know your coupon will not be good forever, but honestly those Shout coupons come out quite frequently, so if you don't need the product right now I would just wait it out for new coupons and in-stock product.

This question came up before about taking a coupon for not the right item when the store said they would subsitute....In that case I think it was triples coupons and the store DID subsitute and the store DID Accept the coupon for the item that was on sale.
It was justified by saying the store was going to honor the coupon but take the loss on the coupon and not send it in for redemption. Atleast that is the way I remember the thread...

Yes this was discussed before and most stores will offer a substitution. It is up to them whether or not to accept the coupon. If they do they are supposed to enter it as a store coupon and not submit it for redemption. This has happened to me occasionally.

I have secret inside info that has informed me it is actually Harris Teeter's "unmentioned" policy to offer a substitution when they are out of sale item. When they are shopped by mystery shoppers they actually get marked down if they don't offer a substitution- rainchecks don't count as substitution! However, I have only been offered a substitution once, usually I just get rainchecks. Maybe because they know me and know everything I do is with coupons and they don't want to lose the money??

With the shout I know my HT had 55 cent peelies on them, they started with a 9 so they wouldn't double but maybe the peelies would be different at another store like food lion or whatever you have? I'd talk to customer service and see if they'll substitute with coupons or take expired coupons. I swear we just got more shout coupons in the paper either last week or the week before. Hmmm...

i have heard there were peelies on them, but i wouldnt know...lol. i have the .55/1 from an insert, i was REALLY hoping theyd have more in for triples. i asked before about taking expireds (the day my last ones were going to expire, i called to see if they had gotten any in) and they absolutly will not take them even if they have been out of the item.
