I personally feel that like items means identical, and crushed pineapple is not the same as sliced, just like Cheddar isn't the same as Italian Mix cheese...

I have had CASHIERS tell me that it is like coupons, and I disagree and then they get someone higher up and I have yet to have one of the higher ups NOT agree with ME.

If they wanted it to be LIKE coupons then they would say LIKE coupons-which is usually what starts all this hub-bub. I go in with 6+ of the same COUPONS and get 2+ different flavors of items then the cashier gets her panties in a wad -I think most everyone knows where it goes from there...I am a right fighter so I go down swinging. I am OVER it. I WILL NOT buy something that isn't what I thought it was. Some get all embarassed and just want everyone to be happy. I used to just buy an item even if I grabbed the wrong item or the deal didn't work out as I planned, but not anymore. My husband works hard for MY money so the least I can do is spend it properly.
    Reformed extreme couponer...

    LOL this is definitely OT...

I'd like to think that HT *meant* identical when they said "like" but they didn't say it. The word "like" is just, well...it requires other information LOL.

So, if I say, "Mary's apple pie is like my mom's," it doesn't have to mean identical. Usually we use other words to define *how much like* one thing something else is. Exactly like, somewhat like, a lot like, etc etc.

So, in light of that, the bottom line for me is that I wouldn't argue it if a manager said that like did not mean identical.

I did call one of my stores and ask, and the manager I spoke with told me:
    A) I am correct that I can use more than 3 identical coupons as long as I only have 3 each of identical items.

    B) She thought that "like" meant "identical." (woohoo!)

So at least now I know what I can tell the cashiers if I run into any problems :)

Ironically enough...my son (he is 5) came up to me earlier and said, "Mommy, muffins are like cupcakes." I just looked at him and laughed. It's true. They just aren't *exactly* like them :)
