QUESTION Has anyone else combined a Buy2Get3 Free deal with coupons this week?

I bought 10 Diet Mt Dew which are Buy 2 Get 3 free. I had aside 4 $.55/1 coupons to use since I thought you could only use coupons on the ones you are paying for. When I checked out, I used my 4 coupons and they only doubled to $.17 (I got .55 + .17 per Q).

I had a manager called over and asked because it has never done it this way before...it has always fully doubled the 2 coupons I use on a Buy 2 Get 3 free deal. The manager said that they will only double to what you actually paid (ie price of 2 Mt. Dews divided by 5). I asked if this was new and he didn't know.

He then said I could use up to 10 coupons though since I bought 10 Mt.
Dews. Isn't this clearly in violation of their coupon policy? And, has anyone else had this happen?

I am upset because I wanted to use 4 coupons; have them fully double like normal and get 10 Mt Dews for about $3.00.

the ad clearly states on the b2g3f "first two items are charged AT FULL RETAIL". full retail is $1.89 according to online express lane; therefore, the 55/1 should have doubled to 1.10 each making them ~30c per 2LTR. net cost should not negate the doubling.

if you are going back, you might want to bring your CRT to the CS counter to get your $1.52 that you were shorted.

as far as using 10 coupons for 10 items, if they are bogo, that does go against the HT policy. either your local store manager is not aware of the policy or is using their discretion, more likely the former, IMO.

That is what I thought and that is the way it has always worked before. The computer just did it right....so the fact that the computer did it wrong makes me wonder if they have changed their policy or at least the way they are working coupons with Buy 2 Get 3 free deals....

I have not shopped at all this week but I agree the 4 should double to $1.10. I'm not sure what is going on but I will watch in the future.

Hmm...this is interesting, and I've wondered about it in the past. HT's coupon policy does say specifically that you can only use one coupon on Buy One, Get One Free items. IMO, that's not necessarily the same as Buy Two, Get Three Free items, so I can kind of see where manager discretion may come in.

I do see where you're coming from, especially since this seems to be a change from previous sales. You wouldn't necessarily have enough coupons, or want to use all your coupons to get the better deal here. But then again, if he'll allow you to use more, and you have them, you could just use as many as you've got and get them all for free...

Well, if you want to get technical, according to the policy you should have only been able to have 3 of the coupons double anyway, but since you were buying 4 supposedly at full price and getting 6 'free', they should have allowed 3 of them to double to $1.10 each and should have accepted the 4th coupon at face value as their policy states (although we all know that the 4th one would double anyway unless they do enter it manually). I agree, I would take the CRT back and argue the fact that the ad states that you are purchasing the first 2 at full retail value, and that it means that you're coupons should have doubled fully since they do not exceed the amount of 1 retail item.

The policy is three like doubled and the rest at face value. So technically the fourth shouldn't double.

I think I am going to let it go at this point, but I really want to know how this is going to work in the future. It is hard to know how to plan a deal when you don't know what the computer is going to do.

I also don't want to draw attention to myself for such a small amount of money...I shop here weekly and only buy the "deals." I don't want a reputation that makes it harder to shop in peace. (I already have this problem at CVS).

i think the thing that messes things up the most is they say in the ad the the first ones ring up full price and the rest free, but I think they all ring up at like .70 each. I can't say for sure, but I know the ball parks rang up that way (.98 each that is) so that would pretty much match the amount of your coupon .55+.17=.72 (so close on the actual price)
