"We double up to three identical items with manufacturer coupon; additional coupons for like item will be honored at face value."

I want to make sure I'm clear on the policy. I've always thought it said 3 like COUPONS not ITEMS. So I've always used only 3 of the same coupons at a time. But does this actually mean that I could use 20 of the exact same coupons as long as I had no more than 3 of the exact item? For example with the Herbal Essence coupons...they are for shampoo, conditioner, or styling products. So could I get 3 pink shampoo, 3 green shampoo, 3 purple conditioner, 3 pink conditioner, 3 green conditioner, 3 gel, and 2 mousse? I just don't want to argue with the manager if I am misinterpreting the policy. Thanks.

No, it's 3 like coupons not like products. You can use 3 $.75/1, 3 $1/1, 3 BOGO, 3 $2/2 to buy 15 (3+3+3+6) pink Herbal Essences shampoos. Some managers and cashiers will argue, but this is one, I personally, won't let them get away with. I'll speak as slow as I have to, the grammar is very simple and obvious.

Thank you for the info. They really need to re-word their policy then because that's not what it says. :shrug7:I tried it the other way today (3 Clearisil face wash, 3 creams) and was told I couldn't do that. Oh well, I still got plenty of good deal so I'm not complaining.

The policy says items - not coupons. Therefore you could get 3 different types/flavors/etc and use more than 3 coupons. I know many people on this board have done this numerous times successfully. I personally just usually stick to 3 like coupons so I don't have to risk the argument. I have about 5 HTs within very short distance from home/work and it's no trouble to go to more than one store (staying within the 20 per day limit but multiple trips). If HT were farther away though, I would probably argue the point. It very clearly says like items NOT like coupons.

oh crud, has this flipped since I first read the whole policy nearly 3 years ago? maybe I've just lost my mind. I haven't bought more than three of an item, used more than three of a coupon, in so long that I should apparently shut up on this topic. Sorry about my crazy. The exact opposite of what I said is what it says, and I still wouldn't let them get away with it.:shrug7:

I went to Harris Teeter a couple of days in a row when they were doing doubles. First day I was told that out of my 20 coupons I was only allowed to use 3 IP coupons, second day I was told that I could only use 2. I tried to explain to them the policy but they insisted only 2 IP coupons could be used. I wrote corporate through their website asking them to explain their policy and why every day their managers seem to have a different rule. I received a callfrom the manager of that HT apologizing and stating that they would see to it that their cashiers and manager understood the policy. I received this letter yesterday morning:

Thank you for your email. I do apologize for the confusion with the Internet Coupon Policy. We will accept 2 internet coupons for like items, up to 20 coupons per day. This means that all your coupons can be internet coupons, but only 2 of like items. EX: we will only take two for Organic Valley Milk, whether you are using them for milk or cream. However you can use two for Organic Valley, two for Campbell's soup, two for General Mills cereal etc. I will forward your comments to the Store Director so he can address this with his staff. Again I do apologize.

    Sincerely,

    Loren

New to HCW, had to reply...I have had major problems with knowing what the policy is, so If it says DND I don't expect them to double, but if they do it's all the better. I have a major problem with one of the cashiers stealing my coupons. The first time I couldn't figure out why I owed so much after buying only free or nearly free items. The second time I watched her and she took some of my coupons. Reported it, we'll see if anything is done. Otherwise I'll try another cashier.

    Re: HT Coupon Policy

    J E P and others--

No, DO NOT HAND YOUR COMPETITOR COUPONS FIRST--WAIT TILL YOUR TOTAL REACHES THE $ AMOUNT (i.e. your SUBTOTAL is $30.00 and up)--THEN HAND THE COMPETITOR COUPONS TO THE CASHIER.

I posted a thread under the "Harris Teeter" forum called "Order of Coupons and VIC Card Questions?..." --read the info. It explains what works best for me.

    Hope this helps--
