yeah, I had a problem late last night with a 9 and they threw every excuse in the book at me for it. I finally put my foot down and told them to stop making it up, I know a lot more about coupons than they ever get trained on and their response was: "well there's no one in the store who can override it properly so go home. and what do you mean you don't want to buy this stuff anyway?"

I am so ticked off and very anxious about going in today.

Yeah, what has changed? I have gone every day to HT and they have had to override the Mayfield "9" coupon, but done so nicely and without incident. Today the manager refused and went and got the Co-manger, which I have never seen before. He was firm and said it wasn't a manufacturers coupon, but put out by HT so he wouldn't double it, then I caught the real reason. He said we're not going to pay you to take it out of the store. I told him he wasn't giving me overage, but for free. He said very condescendingly that he would "do it this time" but none of the blue Penguin coupons are to double. I failed to point out at the time because I was embarassed ( I hate that automatic reaction ) but later I realized coupon has redemption instructions for Dean Foods! I wrote corporate-nothing in their policy that I've seen addresses the Coupon Penguin. I'll just keep shopping with my 20 per day until my freebies and cheapies are over. I'm not going to pass on FREE. But other local stores can use my business more and they're a lot cheaper everday.

Quick Questions

I live 35 miles from HT

The 20 coupons per House hold is that enforced in Greensboro ?

If so could you shop say 11:00pm and again at 12:01
making it 2 days ?

It's my understanding that it is per day (so 12:00am to 11:59pm) rather than once every 24 hours. I don't know that their stuff resets EXACTLY at 12:00 am, though (maybe they set it 15 mins late to thwart people, who knows? lol). It wouldn't make much sense for it to be every 24 hours anyway.. what if you need to shop one day in the afternoon, and the next day in the morning? I'd be pretty miffed it they set it up like that.

Ah, and I think the 20 Q limit is automatically enforced by the computers, at all stores.

Yes the 20 coupons per household is register enforced.

I have shopped in the afternoon and then the next morning so I *think* the registers/card resets at midnight. So you could shop at 11:00 pm and again at 12:01 am.

What is the policy for coupons that state do not double or triple and it starts with a 5? Are they supposed to triple? Or is it just YMMV? The cashier would not even attempt to scan it. I have used these types of coupons there before with no problems. Anyone else having issues with these types of coupons?

I have been confused lately about combining coupons with BOGO items.
I understand only one coupon can be used for BOGOs. Where my problem has started is with coupons that are for 2 items. (X off WYB 2)

The Harris Teeters around my area have been saying when items are BOGO we must purchase 4 of the items to used one coupon. I have a real issue with this. Each item is essentially 1/2 off. The coupon is for 2 items. How can they MAKE me buy 4 items for a coupon that says 2. I understand 2 are free but this still does not add up to me.

I read the policy but it doesn't address those particular types of coupons with BOGOS.
Any idea??

I have called customer service about this having to purchase 4 items to use a coupon off on 2 and they told me that because one item is technically free, I needed to buy 4. It's the ridiculous policies like this that have encouraged me to find good deals at other grocery stores. It seems like they come up with a new twist to the policy every time I'm there.

I NEVER had this problem before at HT's until this week. I unforunately got the same poor cashier both times and the first trip the DM told her it was fine to use them. Then today the Store Manager gave me a hard time, even though the cashier said the DM allowed it a couple of days ago. I don't see anything in the policy to state otherwise and the receipt plainly said I paid X.XX for one (half price). I guess I will just use my 2/1 somewhere else.... It feels like they don't want us in their stores......(especially since they don't restock).
