Do the blinkies double or triple? I remember hearing something about a 5 and a 9 but I dont know the policy at ht. I think they used to not, either one but now not sure, thanks so much...

If the barcode starts with a 5, it will double or triple as long as the cashier scans it. If the barcode starts with a 9, it will not.

Thanks, this is kinda what I thought. Our HT has blinkies for the Martha White mixes that I have been seeing people get but the barcode starts with a 9 and I was wondering if this had changed. Maybe they got their coupons somewhere else.
Thanks

If Harris Teeter's Policy is "We double manufacturer’s coupons up to face value of $0.99; with total amount not to exceed $1.98 or entire retail of item; whichever is less." how can they NOT double (or triple) the Qs that start with a 9?

I don't want to stir the pot, but it seems that it invalidates their own policy if they don't. (I've been forcing my Kroger's to double all under manf Qs under 50 cents REGARDLESS if a 5 or a 9, as that is what their Q policy states)

Another question. I know that HT takes $X/$Y competitor coupons, but does that include CVS or Walgreens or is this YMMV, depending on the store and who they deem as a competitor or not (like Publix does).

The coupons that start with a 9 say DO NOT DOUBLE or NOT SUBJECT TO DOUBLING, so how you force them to double it? IT doesn't say "we double ALL coupons..."

I know the stores got a memo a few weeks back saying they are not supposed to accept stores that are not grocery stores. I found that out when I went to use a Family Dollar $5/$25 order, she said they had gotten a memo that they are only supposed to honor GROCERY Stores. Family Dollar sells groceries, but it is not a grocery store. I think the same holds true for Big Box and Drug Stores. Groceries are not the core item at those stores so they don't consider them to be a competitor.

Actually I've seen it both ways. I've seen 9s (particularly Blinkies) that do NOT say 'do not double' or 'not subject to doubling'. I've also seen 5s that DO state 'not subject to doubling' or 'do not double', but HT doubles them anyway (provided the cashier doesn't intervene over what the registers will do by themselves).

Ok, so they will double/triple up to the amount of the item is what I read. How does this work? Does the cash register automatically do that or does the cashier have to do that? What happens when the amount tripled is more than the product? I'm guessing there will be no overage made. (??????)

The register will automatically triple during triples week. For most items it will work like this: Say you have a coupon for .35/1 item and the item is .99.

+.99 Item
-.35 coupon
-.35 double
-.29 triple

The triple is only up to the price of the item. The registers are programmed to try to prevent overage. Sometimes you get overage on an item despite the registers programming, but I wouldn't expect it. They used to give overage if the item was on sale, but not anymore as far as I can tell.

The coupon automatically adjusts (well the computer does it) when it is doubled or tripled. The casheir just scans them and the computer does the rest. Every triples there is always a coupon here or there that will give overage on a sale item. No rhyme or reason (as far as I could tell) as to which ones will do it.
For instance today I got the Muir Glen tomato paste ($1.49). The coupon scans $.75 then when it doubles it it adjusts to $.74.

So for the competitor's coupons...just to be sure I understand...

I received a mailer yesterday from Lowe's Foods with several coupons for $10 off a $50 order. Sounds to me like HT would take this and give me $10 off of $50.

That would be great...keeps me from having to go to two different stores this weekend!
