I was standing in line Friday evening and saw several people take a bunch of stuff to the counter and when the clerk said they couldn't have multiple transactions, they bullied her. She gave in. I was very upset and spoke with the manager who said that he just wanted to get them out of his store. I felt bad for the employees for having their hands tied. The people that work there have always been wonderful and that poor teenager didn't deserve to have a group of women bullying her. :(

Man they need to come hang out with our HT employees, they are rough rule followers. I think it keeps it 'fair' for everyone that way.

I too believe this was not a mistake. The fact that the other legit deals were there is proof to me. There is always one proverbial bad apple.:frown: JMO.

Exactly

I didn't have any beeping or issues but I heard more stories from my store managers about people trying to abuse the limits and use the wrong coupons. They are taking note and I'm afraid they won't do triples again because of all the bad couponers. It just makes me sick. Some of it may be honest mistakes, but most of it is not. There are so many awesome legitimate deals, why do people try to cheat?
I think this is because on other "deal" sites, people are continually talking about and participating in coupon fraud. So when triples came up this time, they listed the deals and more people turned out to triple than usual. The more people you have couponing, the increase in chance for fraud and abuse. It is very sad. Like everyone else here, I am all for a good deal until I have to lie, cheat or steal to get it.

We are all aware that the main selling point of HT is Customer Service. Therefore, they will do what ever it takes to keep a "customer" happy. This is their policy. Some people take advantage of it, abuse it. Just like they do with everything else.

I used to work in a grocery store during my college days and my manager would bend over backwards for his customers to make special orders of products the store was not carrying but would not let go if some customer threw a fit about something obviously ridiculous. You know what? He may have lost a "few" crazy customers but everybody gained in the end. It was a thriving store until he retired!!

Perhaps HT should consider some training for managers that would pertain to triples and how to handle difficult situations like this one. Maybe have security guards to step in if a customer becomes verbally abusive? I don't know... I am sure corporate could think of some ways to deal with this without cancelling triples for everyone altogether. Triples is a great for a store IMO and before giving up there are things that could be put in place to better moniter the abusers of the system!
Again it is all about customer service and the customers happiness:shrug7: No matter what it takes.

I agree. It sure would make it easier if everyone followed the rules.

Like everything in life, a few sour grapes spoil it for the whole bunch. All we can do it be courteous couponers and use them in the way they are intended. There are plenty of deals to be had without resorting to coupon fraud or demanding the store bend the rules for you because you think you are special.

I encourage everyone to email Harris Teeter and thank them for triples. Hopefully good positive feedback will help lessen the sting of the negative.

I totally agree with you all. This was my first tripler at HT since I have been a Q'er (I saved a ton!). I am thankful to everyone that gave pointers. Hate to see the the triplers go because of poor attitudes and coupon abuse. Have a wonderful day!

HOT Re: Coupon Abuse at HT

I think that is why more grocery stores don't triple because people wipe out all their stock. I got up early and my mom met me and by the time I got to the ht they had done sold out of all the really good deals. I think that people should leave some for others. I know that several of the people getting the hba and cleaners were resaling it. Some of us just wanted to get a good deal on items we use in our own homes. I noticed people using the .75/1 cheerios coupon on the regular that was BOGO and it was not for that. I was not at all pleased with the triples this go around.

I too like a good deal. I have been a part of this site for over a year and another site as well. I have found on a few posts I have made here that the claws come out from a few of the members her and I do not like that nor am I posting any more deals. I know that there are rules in place here and in the real world and I do try to follow rules yet there are times when oversight and or other things happen. My biggest pet peeve is the FAIR POLICE!!!!!!! Lets face it the world is not fair and he criers of the Fair POLICE are annoying and often times bring more attention to small problems than are needed. Now I do not need or want the claws from these self appointed Fair Police to come out after me on this post, But please do not group all couponing sites as doing something wrong.
