Triples Advice Please

This will be the first time I really try the tripling thing. Just curious, do you normally only buy things at triples that are free? Or just money makers? Or do you use it to stock up on things that seem to never go on sale?

And how many trips do you normally make during the 3 days?

Anything else vital to be successful at triples that you think I should know?

Here are my tips from the last triples:

Tips for Triples

HT official policy is they will double/triple up to 20 coupons per household per day. So you can make one trip each day....for a total of 3.

I also do use the time for things that hardly ever go on sale - DS loves YoBaby yogurt so I buy a bunch with the .50/1 , Egglands Best too- I try to trade for higher values since they have gone on sale at Lowes twice and HT never. Alot of stuff gives overage so I will use overage to pay for stuff like I mentioned above. I'll donate the overage stuff I don't need.

Also think seasonly - it is about to be summer so we'll have good sale on condiments. So don't buy ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, BBQ sauce, marinade etc unless it is on sale. Chances are it will be free during regular sale after doubles.

Also you may want to start emailing companies - plenty of time to get coupons. Check out the "Contacting companies to complain or cheer" thread. I LOVE non insert qs during triples because it means I can find the product easily!

If there is a Food Lion near you, I would make a trip there and check out their blinkies. The barcodes on the blinkies at Food Lion start with a 5, so they will triple.

Any coupon 0.99 or under will triple if the barcode starts with a 5.

Is there a limit on how much they will take off?

For instance, is an overage going to be applied as a general rule or is that a fluke occurence?

My cashier last time put the coups in by hand and only gave me like 1.00 off everything. I was UPSET, cause I had saved all those .75 and up coupons. But, I thought it was just their rule.

Boy I am so GREEN at this!

At what time does the "official" triples start. Like midnight, or 9am?

Its either 7 or 8 am. I can't remember. I'll have to check past threads. It does not start at midnight at the 24 hour stores.
