I said I was going to order tamales online this year and then didn't do it. Too late now! Most likely we will dine out on Christmas Eve. For Christmas Day I will make pasta with shrimp and garlic for my husband. Maybe tuna casserole for daughter and I. He doesn't like it. Daughter loves it an sadly for her I rarely make it. It's not the same for me now that can't use condensed soup...food allergies! Gee... We don't sound very festive!
This year we are doing the Thanksgiving Spread. My mom is coming and she is going to help me make all the stuff that I LOVE from Thanksgiving but don't have the energy to make while pregnant. The menu thus far is:
Turkey
Mashed Potatoes
Dressing
Green Bean Casserole
Cornbread Corn
Cranberry Sauce(not from a can)
Rolls
Pumpkin Pie
We will do biscuits and gravy and the whole breakfast spread for breakfast probably Christmas Eve and have homemade Cinnamon Rolls for Breakfast on Christmas Day.
My DS keeps asking if we are going to make cookies so mom and I have decided we will bake up a bunch of cookies too so the kids can enjoy doing that, it was something I remember fondly growing up.

Since we didn't get any turkey on TG I just may do one as well - there's already one in the freezer.
That's a great idea to do a nice breakfast thing on Christmas eve. I never wanted to do a big or time-consuming breakfast on Christmas morning because of the meal later.
I have ALWAYS felt guilty that we never did fun, decorated cookies at Christmas. I just never did seem to get around to that but we didn't do it growing up either. We did make other things but not traditional cookies like so many others.

ha ha renee, I was going to post a thread just like this one today - great minds think alike!
I remember growing up making like 12 different kinds of cookies as well as fudge and making DOZENS of each. We would make up cookie trays for the family. It was one of my favorite things as a kid, and I want to do it with my kids, but I need the extra hands of Mom this year with DD being 19mos old.

We're doing Christmas on Christmas Eve this year, since my son has his two older kids that day. They'll be doing a traditional dinner at his in-laws on Christmas, so I decided to go non-traditional this year.
We're having lasagna. Two kinds...one with meat, and the other with spinach, mushrooms and onions. Garlic bread and a big salad. We'll still have pies for dessert, and lots of munchies before the meal.
