Do you buy candy canes? Do you have two christmas trees in your house?

First Do you buy candy canes. This is something that I have done for years. I buy about 4 boxes of candy canes and put them on my tree for the kids to eat on until christmas gets here. My boys both in high school now have brought home a new friend or two. These kids act like they have never had a candy cane. I mean they are cheap so I was wondering if I am the only one that still buys them.


Then do you have more than one tree up in your house? I had a big tree that I have used for years and last year it broke. I bought a new little cheap tree for $40 then while digging out the stuff to put on it I found another one under all that stuff. I am thinking about putting it up..we have christmas eve dinner/supper at my house and give out family gifts. So I am thinking that I could put the gifts that everyone brings for that under one tree and our christmas boxes for santa to fill(replace the rocks/bricks with toys ect..yes this is what I tell my 5 year old twins) under the other...(this is what I do with my free items I get all threw the year--gift bags for the family)..

I don't usually do candy canes because they tend to be so messy to eat..but that's me.

We have a big tree and a small tree in each boys bedroom (like 3 ft). All the little homemade ornaments they make go on those. My mother has a large tree in both her family and dining room, and a small tree in every other room of the house, other than bathrooms. I love the kitchen tree...it has little kitchen utensils with gingham ribbons on them.

When the girls were younger and sharing one big room I would put a small (fake) tree in there for them but now it's just the 1 (a real one) in the living room. It sits right next to the fireplace too so it comes down pretty quickly after Christmas so Hubs can finally enjoy a fire after working outside in the cold all day.

As for candy canes I'm kind of grinchy on those. I used to buy them but I never liked peppermint so I would buy the fruit-flavored ones. The past several years I haven't even done that because between Halloween and Easter was a constant sugar-fest. We never did put them on the tree because if there were 40 on there by gosh they would eat all 40 in about 2 days.

Thats the ones I buy also..we dont like peppermint either..The first day or two they want to eat them but I fuss and they only get to eat one then with each day passing they dont want them as much/often...

Not a big fan of the Candy Cane on the tree bit. My kids would be bouncing off the walls if I gave them unlimited access to candy on the tree. Besides my dogs would eat them too and ruin the tree in the process I am sure. LOL

We have two Christmas trees in our living room this year. Both are fake as real Christmas trees make it really hard for me to breathe. We have a big tree on one side in front of the window and then this year we have a smaller tree near-ish to the fireplace more set up to hide the electrical cord that runs to the mantle where we have our little winter village set up. My hubby thought that the little tree would sort of mask the cord. Just set up our trees last night but have not decorated them yet. We were supposed to do it today but hubby had to work late. So we are hoping to do it tomorrow.

I buy the peppermint kind to put on the tree because they don't like them as much. Actually, I usually buy one box regular and one box of either the Skittles/Starburst/Sweetart type which get eaten pretty quickly. They will eat all of the fruitty kind and there will probably be about half of the peppermint kind left on the tree when it comes down.

I just put up a tiny tree on my fireplace mantle.
It's small but, best I could do. :)



It looks a little bit better when it's lit and its not got a bright flash on it. There are some multi-colored lights in the garland and some lights on the mini tree.

We have a brand new tree..but I'm not sure if it's going to get put up!

It's down stairs and very big..and due to unsforseen circumstances...DH didn't come home this weekend and won't be home this next weekend. We have ebola pink eye that won't go away..and he's having surgery on his nose..(which is why he didn't come home..if he gets it he can't have the surgery). So by the time he gets home..and we won't even be here for Christmas I"m not sure what the point is. *sigh*. I don't think I"m strong enough to drag it up the stairs by myself..it's an 8 foot tree.

and then I'd have to move a 100 lb door (literally pick up and move) to get to all the decorations.

As for the candycanes. I always buy peppermint ones...we crush them and make a candy out of them, but we don't hang them off of the tree.

Nope. Don't like candy canes. If it wasn't for the kids I wouldn't even bother with the one tree.
