Thanks everyone. I am big into volunteering, so I am exploring that. There has got to be someone who needs me on Christmas day :)

Do you know anyone that does not celebrate xmas, Jewish friends? Mine go to the movie and Chinese also, as someone else has mentioned. Can you join them? Or plan Christmas for you and your kids on the 26th, do everything you would normally do on the 25th, just do it on the 26th. So all day on the 25th you could be cooking/ preparing?

I'll never forget my first Christmas after a long term relationship. Instead of being sad over it, I got up late, relaxed, called my loved ones and rearranged the house! LOL I then curled up on the couch w/ my coffee and did a movie fest while being nice and comfy in my jammies!

Take take the time to do something YOU enjoy. It's going to feel weird to be alone, but trust me, it does feel good.

And keep in mind, we're all going to be on and off HCW all day too, so you're never truly alone! (Hugs)

My first thought would be a trip to a casino or a movie that I wouldn't take the kids too.

I do like the idea of volunteering - a nursing home, women's shelter, or soup kitchen would be a great idea. It is always fun to meet other volunteers and you might even make some new friends. One year I was off work but my spouse was working. I enjoyed some peace and quiet in the morning and I spent my afternoon packing up care packages for overseas soldiers from my stockpile. I mailed them after Christmas and into the first weeks of January. I heard back from a few and know that they appreciated them, and many were glad to get some mail in January because they weren't getting as much they did right before the holiday.

Many holidays I end up working - and I guess I enjoy getting to be at home even if I am alone! This year, we will do our family Christmas on the 24th as we both work on the 25th. Next year, thanks to leap year, I will get July 4, Christmas, and New Years off which is kinda nice.
