    Christmas Christmas party

I want to have a Christmas party in my home. I refer to it as Christmas party because that is the holiday I celebrate. Just in conversation, using the word "Christmas" offended someone. They said I should call my party a holiday party instead. If its a private party held privately in my own home, why can't I call it anything I want? I will also have the home decorated in red & green, with a Christmas tree, there will be nativity -type decor and such.

The spirit of Christmas is about sharing love, joy, and peace as Christ did. There are many people who have no true friend to invite them to a Christmas party. He/she is blessed to be a guest.

I believe Christmas to me is about Christ so I agree with you that you are having a Christmas party. I would have been offended if someone told me that offended them and to call it a holiday party, no way. It is a Christmas party. What is this world coming to? I hope you have a great time at your Christmas party.

I wouldn't invite the person who told you that to your Christmas party.....

It's kinda like when stores are politically correct and say happy holidays to the customers....they can say what they want - but so can I and I always reply with Merry Christmas!

I think that it is your house and you do what you want. We are getting to the point where even being PC is stepping on toes because we are ALL different with different beliefs and values It's almost a crime to say, Merry Christmas," but all these anti-Christian people have no problem making a buck off anything remotely relating to Christmas. I mean, let's think about it. If we took away Christmas would it still be black Friday? With all these messages that float around about not buying a product on a certain day to make a point, imagine if one year we truly bought NOTHING related to Christmas? If Christmas is so evil, then let's do away with it one year and see how fast the businesses become unPC and bring it back! Just remember that you can't please everyone all the time. If that person is offended then don't worry and stick to your guns. Why should YOUR belief system have to change to suit others. Why can't their belief system change to suit yours? It really irks me that we are offensive by saying Merry Christmas, but yet we are not supposed to be offended when someone says Happy Holidays.

Well said Blessed617 !! I could not agree more. I am sick & tired of being told that I am not being PC &/or that I am being offensive when others do not care that they are being offensive to me & my beliefs.

In my house I celebrate what I want, how I want, call it what I want & decorate how I want. I absolutely refuse to alter my beliefs to suit others. If someone does not approve then they can choose not to attend, visit or participate in; just like I choose not to attend, visit or participate in anything that goes against my beliefs.

I will be as respectful of others beliefs as they are to mine.

I will not let others dictate to me & I will not leave Christ out of Christmas for anyone ~ period!

I always say & respond with "Merry Christmas".

DH & I were just talking about the "business" end of this the other day. Yep if all christians stopped buying special Christmas related items including food it would make a big dent in the stores pockets.

We are actually discussing the idea for next year of no gifts & no special foods. Just have a get together with a Christmas dinner & a BD cake to celebrate the real reason for the season!

Can you guess that this is 1 topic that really gets under my skin.

OP I hope you have a fantastic Christmas party!

A Very Merry & Blessed Christmas to you & yours!!

I agree, it's your party and you are free to call it whatever you want.
