It's NEVER too early to start thinking about Halloween! Haveee fun!!!
My little boy (7) found an article from a 2008 issue of National Geographic Kids where it showed how to do different crafts and goodies for a Halloween party, and now he's all rarin' to go! Um... isn't Halloween like six months away?? LOL!!!
So, here is what we will have:
Mummy Autopsy - Kids will get completely grossed out when they reach inside the creepy coffin (which will be made out of cardboard). Gruesom foods inside feel like decaying body parts!
Eyeball Deviled Eggs - Food coloring will come in handy as well as olives for the pupils! LOL
Specimen Jars - Plastic snakes, insects, eyeballs, hands and even a fake brain are put into jars along with water and food coloring or a bit of milk. The more disgusting-looking, the better!
Werewolf cupcakes - Chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting, but the frosting is applied so it looks like fur and candy is used for the eyes, mouth, tongue and fangs.
I am excited! I already have unopened cups, plates, and a tablecloth with candy corn design that I got at a close-out sale!

Oops... sorry - you exceeded the limit of my attention span!
Bye Mom... I love you, and will miss ya. 4/5/11
I guess I am not in the norm .. yes, it's too early .. I haven't even gone swimming in our pool yet!
BUT, if you find a good deal, snag it ;o)
I love Halloween. My DS birthday is near Halloween, so we have used the creepy theme several times. We did a mad scientist party one year - set up a creepy haunted room in the basement. Made it look like a body covered with a sheet laying on the pool table (had wires and stuff sticking out of the body hooked to machines and beakers of bubbling stuff). Had the strobe lights going and creepy sound effects tape (lightning, creaking doors, werewolf howls, etc.). The kids loved it.
I'm even more not in the norm. I think it's always too early 'cause I'm one of those weirdosthat hate Halloween! Dressing up is fine and all but I despise all the glorification of death and gore.
But to give some kind of helpful info to you, I'd say it's too early for a 7yo. He may be excited now but want to do something different 6 months from now. Ask me how I know...

Halloween is my favorite holiday..I love it!!! So it is never to early to start thinking about it.
I would say no. My daughter will be 3 in December, and I already bought her a present. I bought my girls' 09 Halloween costumes on clearance after 08 Halloween. And my older DD, bless her heart, is helping me "clean for Kissmas!" Go for it!
