Default Easter basket gifts? ~ 2010

So I am curious about how many people do an actual easter basket for their kids with gifts. If you do give gifts to your kids at Easter what do you give?

My kids are older now, 20 & 24, but no I never gave gifts, the Easter Bunny always brought baskets. And the Bunny hid the baskets so the boys had to find them, it was fun. If they come home at Easter time I will do a basket, if not I will send a card and maybe a $10 gift card to the grocery store.

My 2 dd are 4 and 6. I have always given them a basket of candy and some workbooks, colors, markers, coloring books, and religious story books about Easter. We also have a big easter egg/andy hunt with all the kids in the family.

I do a little candy, some small dollar store type gifts, and maybe a new toothbrush or a tshirt. I also usually include a DVD or computer game. For the baby I will probably get a few new little toys, some jars of baby food, spoons, and a bib.

I usually don't spend more than $20 per basket. I do small gifts because I try to really limit the candy.

When my brother and I were little my mom would make us gift baskets and we'd get them on Easter morning before church, and then we'd hunt eggs in the backyard. She usually reused the same baskets every year and put that rafia stuff in them that looks like grass, and she'd put plastic eggs filled with jellybeans and sometimes dimes and quarters, and a few larger candies like a chocolate bunny or a box of whatever candy we liked. I usually got a small stuffed animal and my brother would get a boyish toy like a small car, etc.

OK, I think I misunderstood the "gift", my boys both had friends who got Easter gifts, and by that I mean Playstation, PS games, baseball equipment. So, when the word "gift" was used that's what I was thinking.

All I can say is WOWI'm like many of the PP I give my girls a basket usually with a little thing of bubbles, a little bit of candy, and maybe a little toy. Pinwheels are really popular with my oldest.

I do baskets for DS's that they find in the morning with the eggs that are hidden in the house. They include a little candy, kites, bubbles, activity books and whatever other goodies I can find at the Dollar Tree. I usually spend $5-$10. We have been reusing the same baskets for years. After lunch we do a big egg hunt outside with all the family. Again we have been re-using the same plastic eggs. We fill those eggs with candy and quarters(mom started that about 5 years ago) for the kids and lottery tickets for the adults.

I make the boys baskets, but I try to make the baskets creative, usually the basket itself is something that we can reuse. 2 years ago they were Diego suit cases, last year they were wire baskets that holds small toys in the basement. This year is the same. I went to Five Below and got 2 containers that were $3 each to act a baskets. I got them DS games and SpongeBob watch from five below, along with a few small toys that I got at Target's 75% clearance. I got them each 2 boxes of movie candy at shoprite last week onsale that I will add also. I try to keep the candy to a minimum.
I love my coupons, my husband thinks I'm crazy!
