HELP Help for a Black Friday Newbie

As a Black Friday newbie I just wanted to know what are the best places to shop on Black Friday, I would really like to get all the good deals but I am not sure which stores are worth my time! I live in Greer SC and thought about going to the Gaffney outlets but I don't know. Does anyone go to the outlets on Black Friday or no? What are the secrets to getting all the goods?

After last years BF fiasco, I'm staying home!! I think its totally overrated and you can do better buying stuff now as it goes on sale or wait a week or two after BF, sometimes the deals are better.
The only place I will go, will be CVS b/c they start their BF deals Thanksgiving day. Last year I got there at 6:30am and back home by 7!

It all depends what you are looking for and what shops you have.

Due to the economical situation, BF is moot IMHO. You can find better deals especially as we draw closer to the holidays. This is what happened last year.

Just wait for the ads to leak and you will have a good idea of where to go after you find things in the ads that you want.

Make sure you get the actual ad on thanksgiving just to confirm that the stores ads are the same.

it depends on what you are looking for too. But i'm in the boat that i will probably be staying home on black friday this year. We've done it 2 times, the first time was pretty good we got the tv we wanted, but last year was aweful, we ended up not getting anything at the major electronics store, and I got one game from kmart...I don't think it's worth it, but dh does, told him he can camp out on thursday if he wants, me and ds won't be joining him this year. Now this year I'm more interested in online deals and cyber monday as I am finding shopping is much easy when i don't have to leave the house with a sometimes incooperative 3 year old. But still checking the deals, just to price compare and to keep a look out for good deals. If it saves me 5$ not really worth it to go out, but if it will save me 200$ now that is worth it, kwim?

Yep! If you want electronics, probably look at Best Buy, WM, KM, HHGregg, and others. For clothes, check out Kohl's, JCP, WM, KM and more.

As a newbie, I would suggest you do what I do - DON'T try to get all the big stuff unless you REALLY need too. My life isn't worth saving a few hundred bucks on a TV. However, I will BF for all those OTHER things, like $20 500tc sheets at WalMart last year or $10 jeans. I get great deals on that stuff and then online search for great prices on any BIG items I may still need (last year, I got a 2g-expandable to 4g-MP3 player for $25 at buy.com and the micro SD card to expand it with for $5).

Stick with this website and gottadeal.com to get the most out of (and the safest) BF experience possible!

Last year was my first BF and I chose Walmart. NEVER AGAIN. I found out the very same exact deals I was searching for, my friend was aat home in her jammies sipping on her coffee clicking a way and didn't step foot out of her house. The (ship to store) made it even better. So, I won't be going BF'ing this year. I do agree that "IF" and "only IF" you do attempt to go.... start out small. Buy small items.
    Good luck!

I've enjoyed going to BF ever since I was a child. My mom and I would go when I was younger.

There can be some amazing deals out there depending on what you are looking for.

Last year I was able to make it to Walmart first thing and didn't have any issues. I was able to get everything I wanted but again I was buying smaller items. Walgreens was also I good location because they had some nice freebies. Same thing this year except they are register rewards obviously vs. rebate items.

Don't be scared off. If you want something make a go of it. I have yet to do something like Best Buy where people get there and camp out for hours. But if there is something you want there make sure you go VERY early because they hand out tickets for items to those waiting in line.

    Most of all; have FUN!
