Just saw the thread and kicking in my 2 cents worth.

They have the already mashed potatoes in the refrigerated section. I can't remember brand name(s) but last year I got some cheap w/coupons. Even without they are real mashed potatoes and I believe you can just heat them up and serve. Good stuff.

And since you don't have any help, I would go with the canned veggies. Less complicated.

I actually live in your area and was going to suggest Everydays on Central Ave in Colonie they do an awesome Chicken Parm dinner very inexpensively especially on your budget.

Although as I read it sounds like you have a good menu planned so far. Frozen or canned veggies is probably easiest.

You could always play some games, like bingo, and use the giftcards as prizes. Doesn't have to be big gift cards and one of the bigger prizes could be a gift basket of HBA. Lots of fun. For smaller games I have a basket of odds and ends that they can choose from as their gift. I do this for a co-workers gathering at my house each year.

If I think of something else, I will post again.

Oh my goodness! Someone in my area! WOOHOO!

I actually have an appointment to go to the Old Daily Inn. They want 12.95 per person to do the whole thing. I don't want to give them more than 10.95 per person to do the whole thing. (That leaves me with money to get the dishes, extras, linens etc.)

They will make each persons dish with:

6 oz herb seasoned, roast turkey breast
large serving mashed potatoes and gravy
stuffing (or dressing, depending on where you're from)
dinner roll with butter
cranberry sauce
steamed veggies
salad with dressing

So is 12.95 per person worth it for that? I'm thinking if they won't negotiate with me on the price, that I'll ask them to leave off the salad, steamed veggies and cranberry sauce and see where that lands me for a price.

I'm sure that I could handle making those three things myself (right????).

Have you thought about potato salad instead of mashed potatos? That way you don't have to worry about cooking it or keeping it hot. Pm me if you want a really good recipe. This could be made a couple days ahead of time. Don't forget your plasticware and napkins. If you have a Sams club close, check out pie prices there. That will save you even more time not having to bake.

I have an amazing bbq reciepe that uses pork loin[on sale this week at Kroger for $1.47]. I have made it for 200 people. It's made in a slow cooker and can be made ahead and frozen then reheated. Leftovers freeze well. Chips, veggies, dips, bakery cookies. Don't overthink it just keep it simple.
