Default Wiii system - best price? best place?

we are getting our 11 yr old one gift for christmas, besides her stocking of course. we want to get her the Wiii since she wants it so bad. what we want to know is where is the cheapest place to get one? we wanted to do layaway so we could pay on it....but kmart is the only place around here that does layaway but they are so much more expensive.

online is an option we are open to....whats the opinions drifting through here?

also games? same thing...we may just check some of the pawn shops for games too...

    we are open to suggestion!

    TIA!
    Hope

You won;t find much of a variance on the WII prices. They are $199 just about everywhere. THat is because NINTENDO is the one who sets the prices. Stores like Kmart, Best Buy, Target, etc... really CAN'T put them on sale. BUT...

What the stores CAN do, is offer an incentive when you buy it there. Target does a lot of gift card deals. "Buy the WII at $199, get a free $20 gift card" type things. Or other stores will offer free games. Watch the different flyers.

Also, as far as games, you can catch a decent sale here and there. TRU has a B2G1 free deal going on right now (today is the last day).

    Default Help! Wii Game Recommendations

Okay, so we are (finally) breaking down and buying a Wii this year for the holidays. I have tried to win one for the last 2 years in every contest imaginable, but no go - so I am going to have to scrape up the $$$. We do not watch TV (no cable), only DVDs - and do not have a video game system.

I am hoping that some of you can give me some recommendations for your favorite Wii games. Our family consists of me, DH, almost 12-yr-old Son, 4-yr-old boy and 4-yr-old girl, and 1.5 yr old girl. I do not want anything violent and neither DH nor I are big into video games. I am looking for fun family oriented games or games that our 12 -yr-old might like.

Because I am clueless it would help me to know what extra stuff I will need to play the games (extra remote, etc.)

    Thanks in advance!!

We have a Wii and its just dh and I and we are in our 40's. So I think you all will really enjoy it. We like it because it gets you up and moving.

    We have:

    Wii Sports
Wii Outdoor Adventures - come with pad to use with game
    Mario/Sonic Summer Olympics
    Wii Fit with Board
    DDR

Outdoor Adventures is a lot of fun. We enjoy all the games we have gotten so far and none are violet. Well the Olympics might have a boxing event, but its sports...not violence, KWIM?

There are lots of games out there that would be non-violent and good for the whole family. Since my kids are grown I can't really recommend any kids only type games.

Remember too - you can rent the games from Blockbuster or other places to try out. So you can see if you like them, once you get the system I would recommend doing this because you don't want to waste money on a game no one likes.

I too have broke down and bought a wii for the holidays. My son who turned 12 two weeks ago loves the Mario games, Mario cart, Mario brawl, all mario games he loves and they are not violent. Try gamefly.com for renting the games there is no late fees and you can keep them as long as you like. HTH

Super Mario Galaxy is our favorite, but it is one player. It would likely be most suitable for your 12 year-old.

MarioKart is another fun multi-player game, but might be too challenging for 4 year-olds. I'm not sure.

Mario Party is a family game and 4 people can play together. It was too slow-paced and boring for our 2-adult, 1-doggie, 0-kidlets household, but would probably be great for you all to play together as a family.

I haven't played Animal Crossing: City Folk, but enjoyed the GameCube and DS versions of Animal Crossing, so that might be worth a look.

Curious to see the suggestions you get since I will probably be buying games for Christmas as well.
