Spending Christmas Alone

Just received notice that our Grankids will not be here for X-Mas. I am so down and my hubby is even more let down. He wants to take the tree down, as the only presents under it is for our grandkids. We have always put up a tree and we cook the family meal. Oh, I have a heavy heart, what has come of this world? I pray that we will see at least one of our grandchildren this Christmas. This year has been tough on soooo, many. What the year 2009 will bring? I hope that it is anything but, what 2008 had for all..:sad:

Why aren't they coming? Is it weather related? We've had over a foot of snow here, and travel is just wicked.

When I read your note, sometimes life seems so unfair. My children cannot be with my mom or his mom for Christmas this year. I would do anything to be able to see my dad again this Christmas, and have my son know him. So many times we just take things for granted. We live in a town where we don't know many people and all family is 1000 miles away. Your note just made my heart very sad for all the people who don't have the family connections that they would like to have this Christmas.

It is difficult for many people.

I hope that somehow the smiles you were hoping for get to you this Christmas, one way or another.

Why aren't they coming? Is it weather related? We've had over a foot of snow here, and travel is just wicked.

Not weather, money. We only have a little 2 bedroom house and the kids always stay at a hotel, the grandkids stay here on the floor. Just can't spare the money this year. They drive from Arizona to us here in Missouri. Have done this for over 10 years.

Im really sorry to hear that. Holidays are really tough when you cant be with your loved ones. My mom will be totally alone this year. My parents are divorced and every other year my DH and I and our kids go to buffalo, NY to visit his side of the family. She was invited to go over to my dads parents house because she is still very close with her ex in-laws and my dad will be going to visit my step-moms parents.

Is there something you can do to get out of the house on Christmas? I know there are groups out there that look for people to volunteer to either serve up meals, or volunteer in a children's hospital?

Can you guys hook up webcams and do a virtual visit? It's not the same of course, but it's live. Outfits like Skype and some others have that as part of their net service. You could do a free trial just for Christmas and then call it good!
