What does Santa put in your kids stockings?

My step-mom always picks up tons of trinkets to put in the girls' stockings. This year they are getting Christmas pencils, notepads, small bouncy balls and silly putty. I have to pick up the candy to put in them. I love to get the Lindt chocolate reindeers for their stockings. Can't go wrong with good chocolate. My DH would get stuff like toothbrushes and socks in his stocking when he was little. I asked him if he liked getting that kind of stuff in his stocking and his answer was "no". I never got practical stuff, just candy, oranges and nuts (in shells that actually came from the walnut and pecan trees at my grandparents house). So no practical gifts for our kids in their stockings. I'm sure when my girls get older they would love getting makeup in their stockings though.

My DS is 26. So far his stockings got:
iTunes card
Candy- small bag of Jelly Belly, a lifesavers ornament
Collar extender for his shirts (tiny little box)
Christmas underwear (tradition in my household for the guys)

I'll get a couple more goodies in the next few days- in the past I always got him a years worth of razor blades, but now, I'm not sure what else to stick in there. Maybe a hand held game or some other toy. He's got nothing to "play" with this year, yet...

i grew up in a family who really liked to party :P

once we got old enough my mom ALWAYS put little tiny (airline sized) bottles of alcohol.. crown, jagermeister, etc in our stockings... you can find them at the liquor stores and they are only $1-2 each, depending on what kind. i did this for DH and he LOVED it.

maybe a good idea for older kids... if you arent against drinking :)

also my ace hardware has a cheap tool eisle... i always get DH small screwdrivers, nails, electric tape, etc.

When I was little my Grandma always did the stockings and we would each get
1 large orange a few walnuts and pecans. A bag of Ribbon candy, a small tube of lotion, and slipper socks!
