We just received the Fall Trans 1 line last week. The Fall Trans 2 should be out in a couple weeks. Not as heavy as the true Fall lines, but in that autumn color palette. The first of those will be on sale by Gymbuck redemtion.

The Gymbuck redemption line is the Back to School line. All stores received a small preview sheet for it last week, so if you're by one, definitely check it out. For girls there's a cute apple dress and a very sharp plaid skirt with matching shoes. For boys it's football!

Last year was a little different. The KG winter coats came early and sold fast, so they were pretty much gone by the time they went on sale in Dec (when Spring Trans (Holland Days) hit). The BG line had a coat with Winter 2, so that went on sale 3rd week of December (-ish). Boys had a big push late, and select stores carried a snowboarder line that came even later. So boys' coats started going on sale the last week of Nov (because we had so many), but I was still sitting on plenty by BRB in January.

This year I expect you'll see the coats in earlier (late Oct at the latest), which means the first styles should start going on sale the week before Thanksgiving, give or take a week. All that said, coats don't typically get marked down that much because they are both expensive for us to make (relative to apparel) and fairly high-demand, so make sure you grab one of the (many) coupons we do at that time of year, but don't wait too long.

The other one I get asked about a lot is raincoats. Heavier spring raincoats come in with Spring Trans, so usually the 2nd or 3rd week of Dec, and they are often sold out by mid-January. The light-weight roll-in-a-bag raincoats come with the Fall Trans, which is right now.

That is sad to hear, especially since you did us the favor of lending us your money interest-free for the last six months (I kid, I kid). Seriously, though, you should never feel anything but supported and appreciated in a Gymboree store. If you don't, the fastest way to get someone's attention is at http://www.gymboreelistens.com. This allows you to put comments, and by rating the store a 1 or 2 it becomes red flagged, gets paged directly (and immediately) to the District Manager's Blackberry, and requires the DM to contact you within 48 hours about your experience.

As an aside, if you have a great store (and most of ours are), GymboreeListens is the fastest way to recognize that, especially if there's a specific person you want to call out. The Regional, District, and Store Managers all get copies of the comments written on GymboreeListens.

There are MANY issues involving merchandise credits (including that they require a photo ID to redeem), the short answer to which is we probably won't accept them online in the near future. We are working on some ideas further out, but I'm talking 2010 to 2012 and beyond (at least for right now).

If you would like to express your opinion on that, you can use Gymboree.com's Contact Us page (Cookie Disabled Error). That puts your feedback in the hands of Store Operations (as opposed to GymboreeListens, which goes to field management who can't change that kind of global policy).

Hope that helps (sorry again for your bad experience; that isn't right)!

Default Re: Ask a Gymboree manager

When I was first shopping with Gymboree, I got very frustrated because I was told I could use my merchandise credit online to order the items I wanted in a different size. Of course I couldn't. I had purchased a bunch from the Tres Chic line in 12-18, and decided I needed an 18-24 or 2T, and of course the local store didn't have any of that.

The clerk specifically told me I could, so I often wonder what she was thinking.

Default Re: Gymboree FAQ (ask a Gymboree Manager)

Here are some questions I thought of?

So what is the Gymboree discount? (I.E. is it worth working there to get a discount.)
Oh - if only I lived close enough to a Gymboree store!

What is the best way to express displeasure to Gymboree?
What is the best way to express satisfaction to Gymboree?

Great question (it's the one that got me working there in the first place!)

Currently the Gymboree employee discount is 40% or the sale price, whichever is better. We also have several times a year where employees get 50% off regular-priced merch and 30% off sale merch (we did that for almost 6 weeks last holiday season).

Gymboree employees get free Gymboree classes at Gymboree-owned Play & Music locations, and a 30% reimbursement at franchised P&M's.

We get a 30% discount at Janie & Jack. Right now only Crazy 8 employees get a discount at Crazy 8 (we did the same thing with J&J its first year while production got into full swing), but that should open up to all Company employees next year.

For employees working 20 hours a week or more we have a 401k that's Company-matched (in cash, not stock!) to 4%. Best part is, it's fully vested from day 1 you enroll. Nice.

For full-time employees there's a host of really great benefits. All the standard ones you'd expect (medical coverage, life insurance, etc), but we also have adoption assistance, pet insurance, financial planning, legal assistance and counseling, identity theft protection, discounted stock purchase plan (stock is up 50% since New Year's] ) and lots of other cool ones.

And, of course, there's the commraderie of the Gymboree family. That and we just got name one of BusinessWeek magazines Hot 50 Companies (#10 - highest ranked specialty retailer on the list!). Alright, now I'm just bragging us.

If it's a POLICY that you're displeased with, the best route is Gymboree.com (or JanieandJack.com). At the bottom there's a link to "Contact Us". That will put your complaint in the hands of Store Operations, which can and does make changes based on customer feedback.

If it's SERVICE that you're displeased with (from a particular person or store), the best route is GymboreeListens.com (http://www.gymboreelistens.com) or JanieandJackCares.com (http://www.janieandjackcares.com). Select the store that troubled you, and mark them a 1 or 2 on service. That will be red flagged and sent directly (and immediately) to the District Manager's Blackberry. The DM is then required to follow up with both you and the store within 2 business days.

In either case you can also call the Customer Service line (1-877-449-6932). CS will log your issue and forward it to the appropriate department/manager, however there is no requirement for follow-up from CS calls, which is why I consider the online forms better.

What is the best way to express satisfaction to Gymboree?
If it's to praise a collection, reinforce a policy change, discuss how much you like a particular event and want us to do it again, then the Contact Us link on Gymboree.com.

If it's to praise your local store, or anybody in it, definitely GymboreeListens.com. Scoring 10 and Excellent on GymboreeListens is a big deal for stores. Also, the Store, District, and Regional Managers get copies of your comments, so it's a very easy and effective way to recognize great service!

Missgymbo,
Do you have any ideas what lines will be included in the upcoming RBS? I would like to start dropping into my local store to preview and place items on hold. I have heard possibly all the spring lines except for Safari...true? Also, can you give an idea of possible price points? Thanks!!

There are a lot of rumors floating around right now about what will and won't be included. I don't believe any of them until the list is actually solidified Saturday. I'll keep you guys updated then.

If I was to venture a(n educated) guess, though, I'd say all lines up to and including Summer Vacation (Palm Springs/Shark Reef/Jungle Safari) will be included. I've been in 5 stores in my area this week and every one has far more Summer Vacation than New Line (Beach Shack/Safari Outback/Summer Picnic).

There'll be a Flip-Flops promo, details in a couple days.
