No way!!! I'd posted a question with the scenerio of one of my Target coupons and someone replied that would work. But maybe they just meant the overall concept, not the particular store.

Why, though? What's wrong with Target coupons? (according to Giant) that's not wrong with, say, Family Dollar's ???

I swear I'm gonna be the death of myself! I ask too many why questions about the method to the madness of coupon acceptance/structure/nature/etc. (yes, I'm the trouble maker type)

When I contacted corporate for clarification, the answer I got was that Giant accepts competitor coupons from other "grocery" stores like Safeway, Harris Teeter, and Shoppers.

Hmmm... our local Target is "superized" with a full blown grocery section that takes up half the store. I wonder if the manager would consider that acceptable. I'm going to try tomorrow and see.

So I used a Target coupon at Giant today. No problem. (YMMV) I told the cashier first and she assured me that it would be fine. I did not get the toothpaste, though. I had the girls with me and was in a slight rush because dh seemed to need to get home. I wanted it to go as smoothly as possible, so I only used one competitor Q (Target one)... in fact, that was the only store Q I used and when it was all rung up, I got over $77 of groceries for $33. The cashier was impressed. She looked at my receipt and said "I have to see this, because I'm curious. ... You saved $44.xx, so you saved more than you spent."

I thought, "Lady, you ain't seen nothin' yet! That was solely using mfr coupons. Just wait until I get my store coupons stockpiled!"

Then, after that (and I know this doesn't pertain to Giant, but it's still really cool), I turned around and went to Target, because I had coupons for hair coloring (John Frieda). If you bought two, you got $5 gift card and I had $5 mfr, and $5 store Q's, so I got two, normally $11.99, the total was $24.43 before q's, and $4.43 after Q's plus I got a gift card, so I actually MADE money on that one.

So, overall, today's shopping trips gave me over $100 in product for a mere $33. Not bad for my first real, major shopping trip for couponing.

(I did make some other trips briefly to familiarize myself with a few things, like when I got Nivea bodywash free and a few other onesie/twosie trips)
