Think I didn't get credit on Giant/Shell promotion

Hi. I'm hoping someone can explain this to me. My Giant store is participating in the Shell gas promotion where you get points for each dollar spent at Giant. For every 100 points you earn, you get .10 off per gallon of gas at Shell. Each week there are special earning opportunities in the circular. This week, you had to choose 7 products from a list, and if you bought them all, you earned 100 points. One of the products was Weight Watchers Smart Ones, which are on sale for 5 for $10. I had a coupon for $5 off of 12, so I bought 12. I didn't earn the 100 points.

Does "pick 7" mean that I have to pick one of each of the items in the list? That is, 1 Smart One, 1 Bagel Bites, 1 Ben and Jerry's ice cream, etc. I can't pick 7 Smart Ones?

Or is it even worse? Because Smart One are 5 for $10, do I have to buy 5, and this only counts as 1 "item?". So, I'd have to buy 2 Bagel Bites, because they're on sale 2 for some amount of money, and 3 Kids Cuisines, because they're on sale for 3 for $5 and so one until I bought seven different items in the quantities which they were on sale for?

I think you should have been fine with buying the 12 items that you did purchase. You don't have to buy one of each item as far as I know. You can buy multiples of the same item.

Did you just make this purchase this evening? I don't know if it shows up automatically to your receipt. It may take a few hours for that to happen. But you should have received a catalina coupon stating that you earned the points.

I hope they show up on your account. If not maybe you can call the 800 Giant number and maybe they can help you.

Thanks so much! It looked to me like things were supposed to be getting credited right away because at the bottom of the receipt it says how many gas points you earned this trip, how many credits towards free sandwiches, etc. But, now that you mention it, that is pretty sophisticated to be able to calculate all that right at the cash register. I bought the things yesterday. I'll check the account, then if it's still not there, I guess I'll call or go to the customer service desk. Thanks again!

The receipt automatically totals your points as far as dollar amount spent on the bottom of your receipt, however, I don't believe extra points show up automatically. I would check your account online at giantfood.com and if you do not see the points, take your receipt and a copy of the ad to the customer service desk at your store and ask what they would advise you to do. You could also call corporate, I just generally like to start with a face-to-face interaction with a store rep before trying a phone call.

I've bought the required items, had the CS person do a print out to make SURE that I got credit (which I did) drove to the pump and not gotten my discount. It's happened twice now so I've given up. I probably could look into it but I don't feel like it's worth my time.

I picked some prescriptions today and the points for the gas program showed up immediately and I went to the gas station an hour or so after and got the discount. I haven't had a problem with getting credit for money I spend in the store just regularly. It was the special deal where you had to buy some of thie and some of that. It just didn't credit. I still have to go back and deal with it. Sigh.

I'm sorry to those of you who've had a hard time with the gas rewards, I hope if you speak to customer service that they can get it resolved for you!
