Here is a spreadsheet that lists every item that has been on sale so far this year (I pulled all ads beginning with 1/7).
I'm not sure how useful this will be, so I'll need feedback. The basic idea is to help keep track of when items go on sale, as well as give you a general idea of the price of each item (when prices are posted in the ad) to help you determine when you can make the most of your coupons or when to buy something you may need, but do not have a coupon for. For example, 85% lean ground beef was on sale the week of 1/7/11 for $3.99, but is now on sale for $2.99, so the next time you see in an ad that it is on sale for $3.99, maybe you look at the spreadsheet and decide to wait a few weeks to see if it goes on sale at a lower price.
Of course, prices may vary from store to store, and the ads I post are either based on the Alexandria or McLean store, but this gives everyone a starting point, and maybe it will be useful. I'm just testing this out for now, so please feel free to post feedback- whether you love it, hate it, or won't use it at all!
