What is your coupon policy?

Double coupon policy: We double the savings marked on manufacturers' cents off coupons up to $.99. Any coupon $1.00 and over will be redeemed at face value. In cases where the double coupon total exceeds the value of the item, the offer is limited to the retail price. Lottery tickets, cigarettes, tax and items prohibited by law are excluded.

Do you accept internet coupons?

We happily accept Internet coupons except in situations where manufacturers have alerted us to specific fraudulent coupons.

Can I get on a mailing list to receive coupons or special offers?

We offer many different types of promotions that are targeted offers to specific customers at varying times and are based on many different factors. We do not maintain a mailing list that is used for all offers, due to the fact that offers are being sent to different customers in different locations at different times and for different reasons.

We recommend that customers make sure their addresses are updated and accurate in our card database, and that there is no privacy block on their card, where they may have opted out of mailings when they first signed up for the card. If you update your card information and include your email address, we do sometimes send out email newsletters with offers. You can check your information on our website, or call our card hotline at 1-877-366-2668.

Giant does accept all Internet coupons. In certain instances, we reserve the right not to accept Internet coupons when manufactures alert us to fraudulent coupons. The value of the coupon may not exceed the value of the product and the customer must pay all applicable taxes.

We take competitor coupons from grocery stores (Safeway, Harris Teeter, Shoppers), however, we do not match their ads.

Update: (as of 1/8/11)
It appears Giant has added to andupdated their coupon policy and some noticeable changes have been made to their double coupon policy on their website to the following:

Only 1 manufacturers' coupon may be redeemed per item; No substitutions are allowed.

The exact item stated on the coupon be must be purchased in order to redeem the coupon.

Coupons cannot be redeemed after the expiration date stated on the coupon. The total redemption value of the coupon may not exceed the retail value of the item purchased.

Any coupons for "free" products will be honored for the value of the item only. "Free" coupons cannot be doubled or tripled.

Act Media coupons cannot be doubled or tripled.

Product specific Checkout Coupons cannot be doubled or tripled.

Product specific Checkout Coupons cannot be used with any other manufacturers' coupons for the same item.

Non-product specific store Checkout Coupons can be used with another manufacturers' coupon. For example: a customer my use a coupon for "50¢ off any Produce item" and a manufacturers' coupon on the same item.

You may double a maximum of 4 identical manufacturers' coupons. For example: if a customer purchased five boxes of Cheerios and presented 5 manufacturers' coupons for 50¢, the first four coupons would be doubled to $1. The fifth coupon would only be redeemed for 50¢.

Up to an additional 12 identical manufacturers' coupons/items will be redeemed at face value for a total of 16 identical manufacturers' coupons.

The bold is the most noticeable change on the policy from the website so everybody knows.

Can you or did you ask about the Competitor Coupon policy? I was told today at Haymarket, VA Dominion Valley store 1 purchase 1 transaction used (i.e. $5/$25--use it 1 once--not more that 1 Competitor Q). I cancelled my $150 order and went to Gainesville and Centreville, VA stores; and there the managers allowed me to use all the coupons after I repurchased my food, etc.

Apparently, at the Gainesville, Warrenton, and Haymarket, VA district stores they will only allow the 1 $/$$ coupon (Competitor Q depending on who you talk to). Other managers at other stores said they were incorrect and would notify the stores to allow all Competitor Q(s) to be used properly. So I did 1 transaction Competitor Q for each 1 purchase--. Final outcome $150 before ALL Manufacturer and Competitor Coupons totalled was in the end--after going to 2 other Super G stores to get it correct was FREE for my grocery purchases--except sales tax. Hubby thought I was over the top--but I said this was the policy of what I was told. I was polite and professional.

Also, I asked the Centreville, VA store manager about the cashier not doing a code for Competitor Coupons, the manager said they had one and should use the code. Okay if they didn't. FYI--the manager at Centreville, VA store is named Jeff. He said he would take care of you and their store is being renovated in February 2010.

By the way, Julie, the Haymarket store is beautiful. They will have a gas station at Haymarket by April/May 2010 after final approvals. Also, the Centreville store manager and district manager told me all the Giant/Super G stores would have gas stations eventually. District Manager called the CSM(s) and Managers to tell them to allow Competitor Coupons. I did not hassle the workers--just stood my ground. The CSM managers said they would give a gift card from Giant for the other Competitor Coupons. I declined and said no. Managers from other stores said this was not policy and would allow you to deduct the coupons from your final totals.

Just keep a look out for the coupons being scanned, etc.

I did tell the managers that I would come back to Haymarket store to shop. Their store really is great and service too. Just a miscommunication on the coupon policies.

Try their store in Haymarket. It is bigger than HT--and each grocery store has its own "personality" for products, etc.

I do know that I've had problems with IP's so it is good to know that they are suppose to accept them. One of my Giants does the other doesn't, so maybe they need to get all their stores on the same page, time to take the policy with me to the store I guess.

Yeah, I've heard conflicting reports, esp about BOGO IPs, etc.

Did a store manager tell you that? Because that's why I asked about IPs and got the above response "Giant does accept all Internet coupons. In certain instances, we reserve the right not to accept Internet coupons when manufactures alert us to fraudulent coupons."
