Those "on any brand" types are just randomly generated at certain times of the year. The store puts them out to help boost sales in targeted departments. Nothing in particular triggers them.

Went to Giant this afternoon to use some of Oscar Meyer Deli Creation q's which expire tomorrow. They are on sale for $5/2. Used the express check out line (self checkout) and 5 $1/1 immediate cash catalina printed out. But the register wouldn't take it. Then two cashier couldn't push them through. Went to CS and got $5 cash back.
I am wondering whether these q's are not supposed to be used with manufacture q's. Although they print out at store, they should still be man. q's. Anybody got an idea about this?

Tonight I purchased 2 Packages of Pepridge Farm puff pastry shells ($1.49 ea) and 1 Giant Brand 2 pack of frozen pie crusts ($1.50) and it spit out a catalina coupon good for "$1.50 off my next frozen food purchase" which I was able to use immediately at the self checkout. After checkout it spit out another "$1 off next frozen food purchase". Those were the only items I bought aside from a 12 pack of coke..
