Giant Closing 2 stores, Abington and Bryn Mawr FoodSource Stores

This was on the local news tonight..

The Giant supermarket at 1411 York Road in Abington, Pa., will close Oct. 8. It was 50 years old.

the Foodsource at 663 W. Lancaster Ave. in Bryn Mawr will close for business on Oct. 22.

The Abington Giant has not been around for 50 years, there was another chain grocery store there before. It is unfortunate, though, as there really isn't another grocery store in a close radius. I can see why they are closing it. It is very small and doesn't seem to fit into there model of larger stores as there isn't room to expand.

I didn't see this til now. That Abington Giant has had many incarnations as different grocery stores. It was a Clemens before it was Giant. I shopped there as Clemens & had been in several times since. It seemmed they hadn't changed a thing. It was old & tiny & with the SuperGiant down the road, this seemmed inevtable. Sad.
