Giant's coupon policy as of 10/19/2011
COUPON POLICY:
DOUBLE COUPON POLICY:
- The customer must purchase the item to which the coupon applies.
- Coupons must not be expired.
- A store coupon and a manufacturer coupon may be redeemed on the same item. If the combined value for both coupons used exceeds the price of the item, the item is free. The manufacturer's coupon will be deducted first, then the store coupon will be adjusted so that it does not exceed the price of the item.
- Coupons may be redeemed on damaged or discontinued merchandise that has been reduced.
- We do not accept coupons from competitors.
- We do not accept altered or tampered (i.e. expiration date cut off) or Xerox copied coupons.
- The value of the coupon may not exceed the price of the item.
INTERNET COUPONS:
- In order for a coupon to be doubled, the Customer must use their Bonus Card.
- The Double Coupon Policy does not apply to FREE coupons, Catalina coupons, store coupons.
- The total doubled value can not exceed the price of the item.
- Only one coupon for the same item will be doubled, all other will be redeemed at face value. (Example: 12 cans of Hi-C punch, 1 coupon will be doubled, 11 will be redeemed at face value) Only one like coupon will be doubled.
- All coupons with a face value up to and including .50 cents will be doubled. Example: A .50 cent coupon will be doubled to $1. All coupons with a face value from .51 cents to .99 cents will be redeemed for $1.
- Double Coupon limits can vary. Contact your local store for details.
* We reserve the right to limit quantities.
- We do accept internet coupons with the following exceptions:
- Coupon value can not exceed $5.

Please see the service desk @ your local Giant to check what amount your store doubles up to. Each store is different as mine will only double up to $1.00.

I did try to get the regular coupon policy from Giant PA as well but they don't have an actual policy posted. Per the emails I received from corporate the store managers have the right to refuse coupons at their discretion. If you have a coupon with a face value above the price of the item they will give it to you free but you are not eligible for cash back. But there is no limit to the # of coupons you can use as long as they don't think you are abusing the system. Unfortunately, that leaves it very wide open.
here are the emails i received:
Dear Ms. TaraXXX
Thank you for sharing your comments with us. I appreciate that you took the time to give us your feedback.
The store manager has the right to limit the quantities and use of coupons. That is only if the coupons are being abused. We follow the terms on the coupon. Your example if something is 1.50 and your coupon is $2 you get would it for free. You would not get the additional .50.
Again, thank you for contacting us. If I can be of any more assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

I really don't like how they will only double one like coupon per day...and that they only double up to 50 cents. I wish they would at least allow 2 like coupons per day.
Different stores, double different amounts. My local store only doubles up to $1.00, while I can drive 30 minutes one way and go to a store that doubles .75 coupons to $1.50, and then drive 40 minutes to a store that doubles $1 coupons!! So check around as you may be able to find a better "doubling store"![]()
Has anyone else been able to double a "like" coupon in a seperate transaction on the same day? I am pretty sure I tried it and it didn't work.
I was also wondering about the IP's and free items. I sent a question to corporate but I haven't heard back from them. If I have a IP for a BOGO free will they accept it. I always thought that a BOGO free was considered a Free item which they state they don't accept in their coupon policy. I live in Richmond, VA and we are new to Martin's - they just bought out a local chain last February and transitioned all of the stores over in April & May.

I am not sure about the doubling in separate transactions, but as far as BOGO IPs, I believe that if the IP has the word FREE anywhere on it (BOGO, B2G1, Get 1 free, etc.) they will not accept it. I can understand their position, there is a lot of IP fraud out there with frees.
I have not had any problems using other store's catalinas for free items as long as it clearly states it is a manufacture coupon.
As long as you do separate transactions, all "like" coupons will double. If your store would allow you to do 10 transactions, all 10 "like" coupons will double. I've never done more than 3 transactions at a time, but it is up to each store to limit (or not limit) you.
Giant PA will not allow you to use a BOGO IP coupon.
Thanks for the answer if by chance I hear something different from corporate I will share it with you. I see so many free with purchase IP's with facebook and other sources that I have stopped prinitng them because the two stores I regularly shop with don't accept them. I will have to try doubling a "like" coupon in two seperate transactions and see if that works. ;)
