| HELP! Purex vent- Burnham, PA store Okay my first vent posting, and help!
So today I went to the Burnham, PA Giant, the customer associate working is very very coupon un-friendly so I didn't even attempt to walk out with free bottles. Instead I got 12 bottles and was going to use 3 BOGO coupons. While I was walking through the store, she saw me, then went to each cashier and told them something and pointed at me (no I'm not paranoid- I thought I was being at first, but my son's therapist was along with us pushing a seperate cart, and she confirmed my suspisions).
When I get up to check out my order is scanned (I bought the Purex and some hotdogs) I try to hand over my coupons, the cashier says, "I'm sorry I cannot accept those coupons" I ask to speak to a manager, instead the check-out manager comes over and says the same thing. I tell her I used these same coupons at the other Giant in our town no problem and she says "Well I value my job, I can't help it if they go against policy there." I tell her I don't want any of them and I will be contacting corporate about this. (I would have pushed it further right then, but I have 4 little ones, and one with autism, and so long time at one place arguing just doesn't work.) So I go to the parking lot, call the store and ask to speak with the manager. He did not believe that they wouldn't even attempt to scan my coupons, and asks me repeatedly "were they from the internet?" I told him
I would bring them back into him tomorrow, he transfers me to the women in charge of coupons for that store. I'm meeting with her tomorrow at 3:00. I'm to bring along my reciept and the coupons I was trying to use. She apologized a ton of times and said if the coupons are what I'm saying, that the cashier was in the wrong. She asked me again where I got the coupons.SIGHHH I'm so mad, humiliated (I seriously was treated like a CRIMINAL!) I can't type straight. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to say tomorrow? I ask because I've been couponing for less then a year now, and I cannot stress how incredibly timid I am in real life, so any tips would be appreciated!

Did the cashier or the check-out manager say why they couldn't accept the coupons?
Just state exactly what happened. It might help your cause to bring along the inserts where you got the coupons if you still have them. I would definitely demand an apology from the employee and the check-out manager.
In addition, to meeting them tomorrow I would write to corporate naming the individuals involved. It wouldn't surprise me if they sent you a gift card for your troubles.  |

| Re: HELP! Purex vent- Burnham, PA store I was able to use the B1G1F coupons on Sunday at the burnham store w/o a problem. I tried to use three of them on Tuesday, but they wouldn't let me. Told me the only way I could use the coupons was to NOT use my bonus card. I didn't argue w/them cause quite frankly I have enough crap going on in my life than to have to argue w/them. <sigh> So I went to the one in town. The young girl cashier took them w/o a problem. I also had used 4 coupons in there on Tuesday, different cashier, and had no problem.
I shop in State College, too, and KNEW they'd give me a problem over there using those coupons. So I figured I'd stay local w/them and have less problems.
To be honest, I don't know what the manager/cashiers problems are w/coupons usage. Sometimes it's like they think you're taking the money out of their pocket.
It sounds to me that they are signaling you out for whatever reason. I'd simply tell the manager you meet w/today that first of all it's an inconvenience to have to drive back to the store over a coupon issue. Second, ask for a copy of the coupon policy, I doubt they'll want to give you one, though. I'd tell him how you felt and how embarrassed you were. If nothing else comes out of it, maybe he'll address this coupon issue w/the cashiers. By the sounds of the they all need a lesson in coupon usage and redemption.
BTW, the lady store manager out there is the one who said no one could use the b1g1 coupon while using the bonus card because "someone was in on Tuesday and tried to get 12 of them for free."

It is not stated in their coupon policy, posted in the flyer or the store.
I bet they'd miss us if we boycotted them. I wonder how much $ we actually bring them in a years time. I know I'd miss that kind of money from my paychecks.  |
