QUESTION Question about doubling q's

I have never had any issues @ my local Giant with anything. Well that is until yesterday......
I was doing the gas deal with the Skippy pb and Ragu and I had 2 Skippy q's, one for .40 and 1 for .60. My store only doubles .50 q's so for the .40 q I should have gotten another .40 doubled and then for the .60 q I should have gotten .40 as doubled.
You still with me?????
So the cashier was really checking out all 5 of my coupons She scanned the .40 q first and then manually put in the .60 q and of course it didn't double. I told her and she said that the policy is to only double 1 coupon per product, so since I had to skippy q's only one will double:shrug7:
I have always been able to double any coupon, for the same product or not, as long as the amounts/barcode is different.
Am I wrong???? I even called the store manager later and he agreed with the cashier!!
Please tell me that I am not crazy!!

ew, that sucks. That's because you had a very well trained, coupon trained cashier. Most are usually in a hurry, and they don't know each ad that well, that they don't scrutinize like that. They figure since the Qs were for the same product , they didn't have to double the other 1. They are probably cracking down on all coupon users, and they can 'bend' that Double Coupon Policy to their own liking. (see vague double coupon policy on their website that allows them to do that)

I don't like this trend.
I don't often have two different coupons for the same product where one of them isn't $1/2, but I've never had a Giant cashier scrutinize coupons to decide which may be doubled. At Weis, that happens frequently, but never at Giant.

Oh, do I have some information for you!

I contacted Martin's (Giant PA) and got the followingt back from an email just last week. I plan on following up with another email asking about your scenario b/c I have had the same thing happen. When I hear back, I will keep you posted.

Thank you for sharing your comments with us. I appreciate that you took the time to give us your feedback.

Our coupon policies are as follows: Only one coupon up to .99 for the same item will be doubled or tripled, all other will be redeemed at face value. (Example 12 cans of Hi-C punch, 1 coupon will be doubled, 11 will be redeemed at face value). Only one like coupon will be doubled. We do not accept internet coupons that are not over $5.00 or for anything free. We will double a coupon from the same manufacturer but different products.

Again, thank you for contacting us. If I can be of any more assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Please remember to use the reference number below for any additional correspondence.

Sincerely,

SuAnn
Consumer Affairs Representative

I forgot to mention that I sent a follow up email asking for further clarification. Explaining that I have 2 Qs for the same product but different amts on the Q (and therefore different bar codes). From the response below, it looks like they should BOTH double.

Thank you for sharing your comments with us. I appreciate that you took the time to give us your feedback.

If the coupons are the same(if the upc on the coupons match), it will only double the 1st coupon.

Again, thank you for contacting us. If I can be of any more assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Default Re: Question about doubling q's

Whenever I have coupon issues I often think of contacting the PA State Attorney Generals office to question whether or not their advertised "Double Coupons" is deceptive advertising. As Gettin' mentions it is vague, and never as clearly stated on in store placards as it was in the email. One assumes one coupon per item will double but that is not the case.

It really is to the point that if I do not want to use Q's at Giant that are not $1 off. I always have had problems with the Q's for Yoplait. If I have a $0.40 or $0.50 off six, the coupon will only double to the normal shelf price of the item. I asked customer service and they basically said we are not going to double the coupon to more than the product price, even if you are paying more than the item price by purchasing multiple items to satisfy the coupon. Needless to say I now purchase most of my Yoplait at Weis.
