I was just coming to post this. I did this exact transaction today. Too bad I only had one coupon, so only 3 free cans for me.
Swanson broth (14 oz) is on sale @Giant this week for .60 cents each. I purchased 3, using my .40/3 coupon from the 9/27 inserts. I received @ the checkout a $1 off your next grocery purchase compiments of swanson broth. This was not posted on the shelf.

I was going to post this also. I bought 6 cans, used 2 .40 off coupons, and got 2 $1 off coupons.
So it's working for every three you get a Cat. YAH, I can do 9 and then roll those into my 2nd Frozen Food deal.More food for the freezer..It thanks GIANT.

Strangest thing happened to me last night. I went late, when it wasn't too busy, and was set to do multiple transactions in a row.
I already had a $1 cat from my regular grocery trip--this time I was just there for broth.
First transaction, total came to $1.80, scanned .40/3 MQ and it didn't double. Cashier said it might double at the end. (I doubted it, but said nothing.) Scanned cat. Total OOP .40 and I was scratching my head...but .40 for 3 cans of broth is nearly as good as free.
Second transaction, same as first....except cashier called front end manager over so we could get my coupon doubled. It worked, $0 OOP, but I really didn't want to have to call the front end manager over every single time....
Decided to leave the self checkout and go to regular line. Next transaction was .40 OOP.
Fourth transaction, cashier scanned cat before .40/3 MQ....and the MQ doubled!
Fifth transaction, again cashier scanned cat first, MQ second, and it doubled!
I decided to get 6 more cans...strangely, when the cashier scanned the cat first and MQ second, the MQ didn't double again, so .40 OOP both times.
The sale price on the Swanson broth is good until 10/17 and the catalina is good until 10/31.

I was just coming to post that the coupons didn't double for me either. I might not have noticed, except that I was only buying 3 of the broth and using the coupon, so should have been 1.00, but came up 1.40. I don't understand why this coupon doesn't double at Giant. I have used about 20 of these coupons at Weis and every one of them doubled. I certainly hope we don't have to start watching EVERY coupon to make sure that they really do double.
I have noticed odd things happening with other coupons as well. When the Yoplait yogurts were $.39 each I bought six and used a $.50/6 coupon. Oddly, when I checked the receipt, the coupon did not double to a $1, only an additional $.39 came off even though the cost of all the yogurts was $2.46. I guess if the value of the doubling coupon is less than the value of the individual product it will only double to the cost of the product and not the coupon. If this happens again I am definitely going to complain.
Does anyone know when this ends?
