QUESTION Dawn dish soap - small bottles

Has anyone else noticed the tiny bottles of Dawn? My shelves said it was a "new product". May make for cheap dish soap somewhere down the line with the "off any Dawn product" coupons....I tried really hard to commit the price to memory, but completely forgot the exact price. They were under $2 - $1.89 or $1.59 or something like that.....
    2012 - Coupons Used: 458 $ Saved from Coupons: $677.46

It is a new product but it isn't. PG shrunk the size of the small bottle of dawn to 9 oz. from 10.3 oz. So the 9 oz. dawn is the new Dawn and the 10.3 oz. is the old Dawn. The 9 oz. Dawn will be the same price and product as the 10.3 oz. but you will get less Dawn. PG has done this a couple of times with the Dawn and they did the same thing recently with the small bottles of Gain dish liquid (Thank goodness I found a good deal on the Gain dish soap at Rite Aid a few months ago for $.38 after coupons before PG shrunk the bottles).

If you see the 10.3 oz. bottles of Dawn on sale at GE or anywhere else in the near future buy those ones up quickly because they are being replaced with the 9 oz. bottle.

Remember how there used to be a half gallon of ice cream but now is 56 oz. or the Hellmann's is 30 oz. and it used to be 32 oz.? This is called downsizing of a product.

P&G is notorious for their downsizing. Recent ones I've noticed:

Puffs have less in them now...they took out 8 tissues per box.
    Gain powder has shrunk.
Tide liquid used to 50oz but I can't remember what it is now.
Dawn constantly shrinks. For a long time the bottles were 13oz, then 10.3 and now 9oz.

I know there are many more...but those are the ones that stand out to me right now.

I work retail and see it constantly...peanut butter, candy bars and coffee are constantly shrinking.

Yes I agree all the products seem to be shrinking. My mom bought oatmeal and it had less packs in it. Seems like everything is going up in price but getting smaller

I just noticed another product today...Cella's Chocolate Covered Cherries. Last holiday season they were 6oz and came in a 12 pack. This year they are 5oz and are a 10 pack. Sad thing is we could all probably find something everyday to post that is now smaller

Kleenex has shrunk also. They had a 110 count package a few months ago. Last month, I had a special price on my Dominick's J4U, but when I got to the store, the spot on the shelf labeled "110 ct" only held 100 ct boxes!

So true, so true - I was just talking about this with my family the other day!!! The restaurants do it to . . . ie McDonald's gives you a drink for $1 while they are secretly raising the price of their value meals in the process. Taco Bell gives you 99 cent items for 2 months while they are secretly removing their 79 and 89 cent items!!!! It's the only way for the food market to sneak it in on us!!!

I noticed the new Dawn bottles several months ago when they first arrived at one of our stores. It was one of those downsizes that is so obvious, you are a bit shocked, but not really surprised. I had one good coupon left and it was at the only store that doubles. The stores that don't double still had the larger bottles.
Another one that "shocked" me was the new Maxwell House coffee containers I saw at Walmart a few weeks ago. Noticed one of our Kroger affiliates is no longer carrying the brand at all, which explains why I found some of it in a discount bin a couple months ago. Didn't think that was a brand that would be dumped that easily, but can't help but wonder if the downsizing caused it.

I have Dawn and Gain in the 11 oz. bottles in my stockpile. I was shocked the other day at the store to see they are 9 oz. now for the Dawn and I think 9.5 or something for the Gain. That is ridiculous. The Ajax is still 16 oz. though. I wonder when they are going to get smaller too? I noticed pasta is smaller boxes too now. I thought we were eating too much, lol because we used to have more left over. Now I know the box went from 16 oz. to 12 oz. Blue Bell icecream is still a 1/2 gallon but I can't afford it at $7.89 or so. The other brands are smaller and Blue Bell brags on the container that they are still a 1/2 gallon BUT they have raised the price so high now you are paying for it. It used to be $4.99 and sometimes $3.99 a 1/2 gallon and with a coupon not too bad of a deal for great icecream but now not worth it.
    Please pray for my family.
