    Well ...

The advertising and promotions by Giant Eagle scream to the consumer to shop at their stores.

What they do not tell you about something like their double coupon offer is that it can be full of grief ... especially from cashiers that are not up-to-date on Giant Eagle's coupon policy.

Hey, knowing Giant Eagle's coupon policy is part of the cashiers' and the customer service desk's cotton pickin' j-o-b!

A shout out to all readers of this thread ...

    Q) What percentage, from 0% to 100%, would you say that Giant Eagle cashiers, as a whole, are proficient in Giant Eagle's coupon policy?

LOL. I was thinking more along the lines of people getting mad that they can't get fuel perks based on before coupon totals.

I agree they should know their own policy. I cut the cashiers and managers slack because it seems, due to the Extreme Couponing show and coupon fraud, the coupon policies are changing more often than usual.

I haven't had any problem with the cashiers at GE and redeeming coupons. They have always been helpful and found an answer when there was a question about my coupons.

The percentage is really hard to calculate because as we all know a lot of how couponing at Giant Eagle is handled is ymmv--especially with the independent stores. Who knows what rules managers tell their cashiers to follow at each different independent stores. Because even a lot of issues with Giant Eagle corporate written coupon redemption policy is vague and left up to personal interpretation, it's hard to say who is right or wrong when you encounter a cashier who you don't think is following the rules. Example, if the cashier refuses to double a coupon because it states dnd on it and you state that it's part of G.E. coupon policy to double it anyway,.......Well, not really. It doesn't specifically state in their policy that they will double a mq even if the manufacturer puts on it dnd..... Another example, is their 12 max coupon policy is left up to interpretation of whether it's 12 max per customer, visit, per week, trip, transaction, store, adv. card, every 24 hours, etc. Of course you can tell the cashier that you emailed corporate and corporate stated this or that, but it's still going to be your word vs the G.E. store you're shopping at. That's why it might be helpful if G.E. just clarifies some parts of their coupon policy on their website--and hopefully not drastically change it!

I can say the percentage is less than 10%. You have the mean old ladies that are clueless and the younger girls that are trying to figure out how to save. I have yet met a cashier that really understood the process. I too think that if it were my job, I would be reading and learning.
