At 11:00 GE was mentioned when she said doubling may stop. 11:00 was just a short few sentences. Hope they don't stop doubling. That's the only thing that makes them cheaper than Walmart.

I firmly believe that if GE was serious about changing their coupon policy, someone from the Giant Eagle Corp. would have appeared on camera to make a statement for this story. Giant Eagle is the largest game in town in this market and the fact that no one from the company, or any company for that matter, gave an on camera interview, or even an official statement, makes this a non-story.

If retailers were being hurt in their bottom line they would be out screaming from the rooftops about coupon "mis-use" or "over-use". While we have all seen some subtle changes at the check out line at GE with more scrutiny of coupons, there is no indication that double coupons are changing right not.

When I watched the segment during the 5pm news, no mention of double coupons-- THANK GOODNESS! Only thing mentioned about Giant Eagle is that they set a 12 like coupon per 'visit'. Seems KDKA just needed a little filler story so put in this vague segment with no real new information--yet they were hyping this vague little segment starting late morning during commercials on KDKA as if it were going to be a news worthy story.

I'm sure GE has mixed feelings about getting rid of double coupons. You all probably remember when they tried to do it a few years ago. How long did that last? Shop n Save and Kuhns were all over that, advertising that they still double. I don't think they're try to get rid of it again for awhile, but that's not to say they wouldn't put further limitations on it.

I hate "that show". Have I said that enough?

I'm telling you right now that I will immediately stop shopping @ GE if they stop doubling. There is a Wal-Mart about a mile down the road and it wouldn't be worth it for me to shop @ GE if no doubling.

    Ditto.
Aside from numerous other extremely competitive supermarket chains in the immediate area, we additionally have a Super WalMart, Aldi’s, Save-A-Lot and come Spring ‘12, a Super Target. All of which are w/in a 1/2 - 5 mile radius of each other and there’s a duplicate competitive scenario, w/same stores on the other side of town and yet others w/in the county.

WTAE is also doing their bit by airing an extreme couponing clip. Of course, hearing them say that Target won't let you lose 2 bogo coupons on the same product shows they don't know what they are talking about. Ummm, when did that ever happen?

I wouldn’t get too panicky about GE’s double coupon policy changing any day soon. They were probably using the wording in GE’s published policy that says ‘policy may change without notice’
