Im not totally sure about this. But it shouldnt affect the doubling process since its GE that covers the double (aka their system) and it doesnt matter what the coupon states. I would think things will stay the same!
Did any one notice in todays red plum coupons, that quite a few have the single bar code? these do not start with a 9 or a 5. The one in particular I am talking about is the ball park coupons. I know these are the new codes coming out to be more specific so they say do not double, will these codes in fact not double?

do any of these new coupons double even if they dont say do not double?
I thought they would not stop a coupon from doubling but if the coupon doesn't double and states "DND" then you are SOL...

We should consider ourselves lucky that GE has the capability to scan these q's. Went to SNS and q wouldn't even scan (butterball). Spent 5 minutes convincing cashier I didn't cut off part of the bar code (was able to produce other half of q - she compared the back to make sure). Then she told me their registers were not set up to accept those q's. I finally convinced her I wasn't leaving without the value of the q's being deducted from my order and she keyed it in.
Giant Eagle in Bentleyville will NOT double these... the CS lady says if it says "do not double" its do not double. The registers wouldnt accept the coupon AT ALL... had to go to CS and the woman working manually overrode the double. When I argued it was GE policy and that lots of coupons say that of course she pulls out a bunch of Qs that didnt. Got the manager involved and he came up with this "our cash registers are more advanced than other stores, they catch those kind of coupons"
More advanced in that they dont scan them at all and you have to go to CS with every one of them?? blahaha! (this same manager also said that he had no idea what an e-offer was before and said "oh I dont think that i'm going to let my store have those")
No point in calling corporate on it... its an independent store and corporate really hasnt come through for me in the past on mistakes.
If a coupon barcode begins with a 9, there is no store that I am aware of that will ever double them. If it begins with a 5 and says DND, a cashier has to manually hit a key to keep it from doubling. GE's policy has always been to double these coupons (though you may have run into a cashier from time to time that may have hit that key).
If the code does not begin with 5 or a 9, unless you're familiar with the new coding system, it's impossible to tell what may happen. Personally, I think it's crazy to start changing the codes until all stores have updated their systems to accommodate for the newer process. What a PITA this going to be at all the stores!
