    QUESTION Energizer Catalina Promotion Questions

As I peruse through the interest of the Energizer Cat I am running at GE it's awesome and worrisome at the same time.

I am the one who sets up the deals with GE for the cat/weekly circular for Energizer.

I have a few questions to ask if you don't mind answering:

Would this drive any brand loyalty for the Playtex, Edge, Skintimate, Banana Boat, Schick, Hawaiian Tropic, or Wet ones brands? Or is it all about the fact it's a MM deal?

Would you have done the deal even if Playtex Tampons were not a BOGO?

What is your ideal promotion at GE? Is this pretty much as hot as it gets?

With the brands above, what would you like to see me run?

Thanks for all the support with this promotion. I realize it's a MM.

Just a heads up. I am running a PFP in the GE circular for the 6/16/11 ad. $1.99 for Schick Hydro 3 Razor and $2.99 for Schick Hydro 5 Razor. Great for fathers day!

    Hmm.. interesting post.

To be perfectly honest I prefer all the brands running during this sale over other brands. However, due to my grocery budget if the others were a better deal and I needed them I would buy another brand. This deal gives me the opportunity to stock up and continue using a preferred brand.

The Playtex being BOGO makes this an awesome deal: however, even if they were one sale without being BOGO I would have still bought them.

This is a hot deal and is definitely as good as it gets on this type of product. It is impossible to compare this to say a similar food deal.

What is a PFP sale? And will there be coupons to match the sale?

    Thanks

Free to cheap is always a good deal and the items in this deal are all good products. I'm curious too - what's a PFP?

    Thanks for the info.

A PFP is a dedicated retailer FSI which you will find in Smartsource dropping 6/12/11. So for instance, instead of being a general coupon you can use at any retailer accepting coupons, you can only use the coupon at GE and during the week of the sale 6/16-6/22.

Just an FYI. All Energizer brands including batteries will qualify for $10 cat. GE ads are very costly and it wouldn't have financially smart for me to list all brands in ad.

I like that we'll actually have the coupon before the sale. Too many times, there are sales on items that have coupons in the P&G and the RP and we receive them after the fact (and only one insert each since they are direct mailed). I prefer SmartSource coupons since we can buy extra papers if we want additional coupons.

Not a fan of PFP personally but, in this instance it might work out ok. I personally don't like being told I have to shop at a specific store to use a manufacturer coupon.

Thanks for letting us know about the sale - can't wait to see it and buy more batteries!

Most of the brands in this CAT are favorites of my family as well. What a great promo to allow us to stock up!

With that being said, we were extremely brand loyal to Coppertone sunscreen even though it is usually more costly than Banana Boat. This promo caused me to take a second look at Banana Boat...a product that I would normally skipped right over. I've always associated Coppertone with being the best out there and my husband works outdoors and uses sunscreen everyday. After using the Banana Boat for several days now, my husband is very satisfied with the performance, and I can definitely see us using Banana Boat vs. Coppertone now.
so I can stay home with and

woah...and I thought couponers had their own language. What's a FSI? So if I am understanding this correctly, there will be a coupon in the 6/12 SS specific to Giant Eagle and there will be a $10 cat. Is the cat printing the week of the sale, 6/16-6/22? Is the PFP considered a man coupon or can it be stacked with another coupon?
I tend to be a Duracell person but you might have hit on the magic trilogy...combination of coupons, sale prices, and a cat.
When you say that all Energizer brands, including batteries will be included, what else is there besides batteries and chargers?
Cool having a company rep posting and giving the heads up on a future deal. thanks!!!

    1. I'm not brand loyal to any of these products, but I tend to buy them all the time because of good sales, happy with product, and good coupons.
    2. I would not have done the deal if the Playtex were not BOGO because I still had a nice amount in my stockpile from a good sale on them quite a few months back.
    3. Ideal promotion = anything that gets my OOP as close to "0" and getting CATS back w/o any restriction on what they have to be used for. (ex: CAT can only be used on HBA)
    4. IMO - deals on the suntan products you have listed are pretty rare. I appreciate anymore deals on those and batteries. Lots of batteries being used around here with the kids being outside using walkie-talkies, flashlights, radios, etc.

Thanks for "talking" to us. You're progressive way of communicating to consumers like us will go a long way.

In all honesty, this is probably not the best place to ask such questions, because we here are always looking at the bottom dollar for the most part. That's not really reflective of the overall consumer base. Of course at the same time, the average consumer might not even pay attention to the CAT deal at all, but the BOGO certainly does catch most people's attention.

Personally, I have always been brand loyal to Playtex tampons. I tried others when I was younger and they just go in so wrong that I would be in SEVERE pain till I removed them. That never once happened to me with Playtex and frankly, when I found something that worked without the pain, I wasn't really wanting to experiment too much!

Having said that, the above culprit for me was Tampax, but my daughter is now brand loyal to them (go figure). Of course, she's currently pregnant, so she's not using anything right now and the Playtex bottles, drop-ins etc are looking really nice to her with this CAT deal. As are the sippy cups, plates, spoons, etc... We picked quite a few of those up at Giant/Martin's last week on a similar deal and will continue on with Giant Eagle if they are included.

Batteries, well, my kids did a science fair project on which lasts the longest one year and the clear winner was Duracell. To be honest though, while Duracell did last the longest, they were not "technically" the winning battery because of the price. The cheap dollar store batteries won hands down. They didn't last anywhere near as long as the others, but because the price was so low, you could buy something like 4 to 1 of the others so you really got more bang for the buck with them. With a CAT deal such as this one, it clearly puts Energizers in the running. At this price, I could be brand loyal, lol.

Love Skintimates and am brand loyal for shaving, but I use Veet a lot too. I'm more partial do Schick and Gillette for men's shaving gels though, but have bought Edge on many occasions.

The smell of Coppertone screams summer to me and brings me back to my childhood time and time again, but I love Banana Boat and Hawaiian Tropics as well. That coconut smell in the Hawaiian Tropics is pretty darn tight with Coppertone for me too though. Aside from what I've picked up this past week, I have always paid full retail for every bottle I've ever purchased (but those days are now long gone, lol).

As for Wet Ones, it's been years since I've bought them, so I'd have to leave that one blank until I get around to picking some up. I do like the idea of the little travel packs, so that's probably what I will concentrate on trying to find.

For this MM was what made me buy the Playtex, but not the Skintimate I stocked up on. For my feminine needs I usually buy pads, but if I can make money by using tampons, I'll use a few every month.

As for the shaving cream, I've always loved Skintimate, so I would have stocked up if it was only a low price. My husband usually likes the Edge shave gel, but the Gillette sale a couple of weeks ago inspired me to stock up on that. I should have remembered how much Edge and Skintimate go on sale and have coupons, but it's been quite some time since I've paid that much attention to sales cycles and coupons, as I've only just gotten back into couponing.

As for batteries, I'm not sure if it's because of the advertising, but I've always been partial to Energizer, so this will be great for us. I know that buying the store brand may be more cost effective sometimes, but I'd rather not have to have twice as many batteries laying around to stock up, and I'd rather spend more so I don't have to change batteries as often! Around our house it is impossible to keep track of things, so trying to find batteries when they are needed is a chore!

    HTH!
