One Day Only Seafood Sale! Whale of a Deal!

I recall hearing about the "Seafood Sale" in the past (see bottom of this page).

So does anyone know if the deals are actually any good - I mean worth stocking up the freezer for? Not that there's much room there!!!

I got some good deals last year at the seafood sale at the McMurray store. What will make this deal even better is the $2/10 any meat or seafood purchase q's that I found in the New Year, New You booklets (they expire 6/30/11).

Plus, I remember them having samples there for you to taste of some of the different seafoods (the crab cakes were to die for)

I did go to McGinnis Sisters yesterday for their $1.99 boneless/skinless chicken breasts - hormone free/antibiotic free- locally raised. It made me happy to stock the freezer back up.

I did go to McGinnis Sisters yesterday for their $1.99 boneless/skinless chicken breasts - hormone free/antibiotic free- locally raised. It made me happy to stock the freezer back up.

Thanks for the heads-up on the McGinnis Sisters chix breast deal. I see $2.29/lb on their website though (in the 2/21 - 2/27 ad). We've been stocking up at Kuhn's (3 lbs. for $3.99), but honestly I think an extra $2 per 3 lbs. is probably worth not having the 15% injected solutions, hormones, and extra stuff they put in there...

When/which location did you get the $1.99/lb. deal?

Hey Denise! Those qs sound nice - the only meat / seafood qs I've seen from Market District are the occasional mailer ones.

I guess I'm wondering more about how the discounts shape up against their normal prices (relatively speaking). Are there actually significant discounts? Or is it more just a publicity thing to get people out?

I went to the one on rt 51 - the deal isn’t advertised, but I was going to buy 20lbs from the butcher and he told me that if I go to the cooler where they keep the weekly specials (just past the deli counter) I would find the 10lb bags that are $19.99 each (so actually $1.999/lb lol)- They of course didn’t have any in there but he went in the back to get me 2 bags and my mom 1 bag - so if they are out - just ask! It is the same exact chicken as the $2.29/lb chicken, they just open the bags and let folks buy less than 10lbs at a time at the slightly higher price.

They also had some really nice bags of produce - apples and oranges for $1.48 - they were in a cart in the middle of the produce aisle. I guess they were getting old or something but I can’t see anything wrong with them - they look better than some of the things I’ve seen in GE! There were about 6-8 medium apples per bag and maybe 4-5 nice sized oranges per bag.

I do like shopping their stores for things like produce and meats - noticeably better quality than GE’s. Oh and try the ground chuck there! It is currently $2.99/lb, but they run specials for $1.99 wyb 5lbs or more - but it is soooo lean and soooo good!

Thanks for the heads up on McGinnis Sisters-- I pass the one on 88, so I will have to check out that bag of chicken. I've been getting concerned about the 15% solution and such too. I won't buy Atlantic salmon anymore- only the wild Alaskan. Last fall's seafood sale at Market District had whole sides of wild Alaskan for 8.99 a pound and U-10 Sea Scallops for 12.99 a pound. Fabulous prices that I haven't seen since. Alton Brown is having a negative impact on my savings!

I went today - I only bought the fake "crab" cakes lol. They were on sale for $7 instead of $10 so, I threw in some cube steaks and/or stroganoff beef to get over the $10 total to use the $2/10.

I ran into viopacific there and we had a nice little visit.
