Columbus has .20 FuelPerks on GC purchases "for a limited time" that has been running for months.

Last month we bought a fridge at The Home Depot for $1600. We bought $1600 in GC at GE. We earned 6.40 in FuelPerks. By taking our three 5gal gas cans (ironically, previously purchased at Home Depot with a GE GC) with us when we go to fill up the truck, we get the full 30 gallons.

    At about $2.75/gal:
    30gal * $2.75 * 2 fillups = $165
    30gal * .90 (the remainder) = $27

So we basically bought a fridge for $1600, then got a discount of $192 on our gas.

In NEO, We are getting .10 fuelperks for GC purchases. Even with .20 fp's, there are better deals to be had.

buy home depot gc's online and save 7%
use the 10% home depot coupon and save 10%

Without driving anywhere(and losing money), and without trying to figure out how to maximize my gas value/savings(which is for 1 vehicle only, per GE's policy), I can save 17% at Home Depot!

    On a $2,000.00 purchase, I can save $340.00

By going to Giant Eagle's website, using the store locator function, I can view any store's current store ad.

By zipcode or by region I can locate a store and look at their ad, looking on the first page, lower right hand corner.

It is an area where they mention the value of FuelPerks on gift cards purchased this week.

It looks like as you get near the metro Pittsburgh area, it is 20˘ off per gallon.

This is also true east of Youngstown, OH, specifically the Brookfield, OH Giant Eagle:

    Brookfield Giant Eagle
    7229 Warren-Sharon Road
    Brookfield, OH 44403

Only 1˝ hours away (as the Big Bird flies).

Sunday morning was a most excellent time for a road trip to Brookfield, OH.

I also called my credit card before attempting to purchase $2,000 worth of Home Depot gift cards.

They put a notation on my credit card account that I would be making a $2,000 purchase at Giant Eagle om 10/24/2010.

In the past, my credit card purchase was denied when I attempted to purchase $600.00 worth of Best Buy gift cards at Giant Eagle.

Back then I called the credit card company while I was still at Giant Eagle and after answering a couple of security questions, I was able to purchase the gift cards.

There is a time constraint is this situation ...

I have rented a temporary storage bin (1-800-PACK-RAT) and the monthly rental 'renews' on 11/14/2010.

The Home Depot gift cards are for new carpet / padding / removal / installation.

The measurement has been done and I am told that the next step is to choose the style of carpet and to pay for it.

I have been told by a Home Depot employee that there is no longer a 24 hour waiting period to use Home Depot gift cards.

I hope that is true ... I will find out today.

Thanks to all that helped me out in this situation du jour.

That is true. My DH often will buy the Home Depot card and then go use it at the store.

yep...you can use them right away. My GE and Home Depot are right next to each other. I bought at least $4,000 last year in HD cards. I went a step farther tho and super maxed my savings.
My school/ church sells GE Gift cards (along with a few others) We get a percent profit for tuition credit and the church gets a bit too...I think it is 4% for GE. I then take my GE cards to the store and get the Home Depot cards.

    Total win win for me.
